Can the COPS do a search, if your car smells like weed?

Like if the COPS ask if you smoked Marijuana, and you say that you did a few hours ago. The cop then says your car smells like marijuana, and searches you. Can the San Jose Police Department do that?

If you got Weed in your ride you are still busted. But if they find a gun and no weed, and the reason for search was they smelled weed, you can try to fight it, but more than likely you are still screwed.

that depends, if your driving a vehicle then they can get you with DUI. and if you tell the cops you smoked of course there gonna search you.
