The Big 12 is a mess right now. TTU holds the tie breaker even if they LOSE to Oklahoma. They would have to lose their last twom games in order for Texas to get to the Big 12 CG and take out Mizzou.

As of right now, Oklahoma is on the outside lookin in for the Big 12...and they are ranked 5th. That is madness.

Another Boise State fan last night (who saw my Florida Gators sweater) engaged me in a conversation about football. One thing led to another, and suddenly he hoped and prayed that Florida got to play BSU (like it'd be an honor) in a bowl game, because the BSU defense is so much better than Florida's offense, and their running game would run right through Florida, not to mention the passing attack. This after talking about how BSU is a much, much, much, much better team now than in '06, and how Oklahoma would get stomped something disgustingly serious if they played them in a bowl game...

I found this on ESPN.COM:

Boise State became the poster child for teams from non-BCS leagues when it upset Oklahoma 43-42 in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, finishing the 2006 season with a perfect 13-0 record. The Broncos might be capable of beating another BCS-conference school in the Fiesta Bowl again. But Boise State hasn't done enough this season to deserve another chance to do it.

Only three of the eight FBS teams the Broncos have beaten this season currently have a winning record. In fact, their eight FBS opponents have a combined record of 37-41.

Boise State's best victory was a 37-32 upset of then-No. 17 Oregon on Sept. 20. The Ducks played that game without their two best quarterbacks, and then lost their third-stringer to a concussion before halftime. Oregon finished the game with two freshman rotating under center.

Boise State blasted Utah State 49-14 on Saturday. The Broncos play at 2-8 Idaho on Saturday and close the regular season at Nevada and home against Fresno State. The Wolf Pack and Bulldogs each have 5-4 records.

We all know that the biggiest argument for the mid-majors is that they dont PLAY anyone usually during the regular season to warrant any measure of "how good they are". However, can we say the same thing for BCS teams? OOC schedules are the best measuring stick, IMO, of how good a team really is. Everyone knows that IC play is going to be TOUGH, whether its the Sun Belt or the Pac-10.

Here is a break down of the BCS conferences this year, per a poster on the ESPN boards:

1) Big 12

Overall: 38-10
Div 1a: 28-10
Div 1a w/ winning record: 13-8
BCS: 7-8
BCS w/ winning record: 2-8
Record vs teams currently ranked: 2-2

2) ACC

Overall: 34-10
Div 1a: 20-10
Div 1a with winning record: 10-9
BCS: 12-7
BCS w/ winning record: 7-7
Record vs teams currently ranked: 0-4

3) SEC

Overall: 33-8
Div 1a: 25-8
Div 1a w/ winning record: 5-5
BCS: 5-6
BCS w/ winning record: 2-4
Record vs teams currently ranked: 1-2

4) Big 10

Overall: 31-12
Div 1a: 22-12
Div 1a w/ winning record: 7-10
BCS: 6-7
BCS w/ winning record: 2-7
Record vs teams currently ranked: 1-5

5) MWC

Overall: 25-11
Div 1a: 19-10
Div 1a w/ winning record: 5-6
BCS: 9-5
BCS w/ winning record: 2-3
Record vs teams currently ranked: 1-1

6) PAC 10

Overall: 13-16
Div 1a: 11-16
Div 1a w/ winning record: 3-13
BCS: 5-8
BCS w/ winning record: 2-7
Record vs teams currently ranked: 2-9

7) Big East

Overall: 26-12
Div 1a: 19-12
Div 1a w/ winning record: 6-10
BCS: 8-7
BCS w/ winning record: 3-6
Record vs teams currently ranked: 0-4

Note1: the big 12 has a pitiful 2-8 record vs BCS conference teams with winning records. if you take away oklahoma, the other 11 teams have a combined record of 5-8 vs BCS conference teams, 1-8 vs BCS conference teams with winning records, and 0-2 vs teams currently ranked.

Note 2: out of 41 OOC games, the SEC has played just 10 div 1a teams that currently have winning records and have won just 5 of them. no, that is not a misprint.

Note 3: the PAC 10 has played, by far, the most difficult OOC schedule. this is not surprising, as they do so every season.

Note 4: the ACC has, by far, the most BCS conference wins and the most wins, by far, against BCS conference teams with winning records.

Note 5: depending on how the ACC performs in its final 4 OOC games (FSU hosting florida, wake forest hosting vanderbilt, clemson hosting s. carolina, and GT @ UGA), the ACC could finish 1st.

oklahoma state is not good. dont let the record fool you. who have they really played this year? they have one good win and that is against missouri. they have beaten no one else that is considered good.

i think they have been overranked all season. im sure someone will make the case they have only lost to the 1st and 2nd ranked teams but the teams that they have beat arent any good.

I'm not worried about Oklahoma; they won't be a factor in the BCS championship game.

I realize opinions are like assholes, but I said it about a month and half ago: The only team that would worry me at all in the BCS championship game, if we (Florida), gets there, is Texas Tech. I've watched them all year, and admit I'm impressed. I don't think USC would stand a chance, and Texas might be a little closer, but teams like Alabama, Penn St., Oklahoma, etc...no fucking way.

I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

LOL

U trippin mane!! Florida would destroy SC!!! Dont act like they all that!! They had their chance to be there but they blew it in the Wac 10!! Got Em!!
Hmm... ok.

^^The difference is Penn St. has a tight defense so that would keep them in the game and the offense is pretty coo to with a great set of wideouts and Royster is a very underrated RB!! Well see what happens though!! Got Em!!

We'll see what happens. Looks like Penn St. lost to Iowa is that right? Looks like what happened is you haven't posted here since you said that. I wish that was the case everytime you were wrong in this forum. Good luck on the rap career.

I agree with this, but even though I tend to favor Pac-10 teams they fucked up this year. If you play the OOC Pac-10 does its make it or brake it and this year play against the MWC killed them.

The Pac-10 always is underrated in the polls but it didn't help to only have 2 teams in the preseason ranked and have one of them be Arizona State. It also doesn't help that both Oregon and Cal entered the rankings in the 20s and then lost to USC.

If you really think about it, if Cal doesn't wake up late and plays Maryland and Oregon wins the close game against Boise St. the Pac-10 would look at bit better. There's also that Oregon State game where they could have beaten Utah which would have been huge.

But it is what it is and the Pac-10 is down this year. If that means USC doesn't get a title shot thats the BCS for you. Cant blame them for playing Virginia, Ohio State, and a Pac-10 schedule that usually includes 3-4 ranked teams. Best thing to happen is the Pac-10 does very well in bowls. This is purely subjective but I think a lot of Pac-10 teams play better later in the season anyways.

.
Cal played horrible that game and Maryland is great at home.

Oregon had their 3rd string QB playing in that game (hafltime-end) and they nearly won it. They ended up losing by 4 measly points. That was also BSU's first away win @ a BCS opponent....ever.

OSU blew that game vs Utah with porr time management at the end.
