The parents of the woman killed in a car crash involving Brandy are suing the R&B singer for $50 million.

TMZ obtained the lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Lawyers for the family of the deceased claim, "Defendant Brandy Norwood was driving recklessly in the freeway when her car collided with Awatif Aboudihaj's car."

The $50 million lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles City Attorney is considering the CHP's recommendation to criminally charge Brandy with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

damn 50 million! and she probably broke by now. i heard she spends money nonstop and spends it on bullshit cuz she likes to showboat. someone told me they saw her on oprah braggin about buyin 4,000 dollar earrings and shit like that. sounds like she need to hit the studio and lock herself up in it for 15 years to get thru this lol. i wonder what ray j got to say about all this. she's fucked.

was she under the influence? if she was i think she stupid as hell. All these dumb ass rich celebrities should have a fucking driver. What kinda sense does it make to drive around under the influence of whatever if your dumb ass could afford a driver. I'd really like to have a personal chauffer so I could blow dumb ass trees all day and drink wine all day while being driven wherever the fuck I want.

doesnt make sense but i guess sometimes people like to hit people where it hurts.. u killed my love one so im gonna hit u below the belt by milkin u dry. i dunno its seems like a revenge/guilt thing to me. not sayin its the wisest idea but it happens.

The accident happened on December 30, 2006 on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. According to Law enforcement sources, Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that cars in front of her had slowed considerably. Brandy's vehicle struck a 2005 Toyota, which made the 2005 Toyota hit a 1989 Toyota. The 2005 Toyota lost control and hit the center divider. As the 2005 Toyota came to a halt, it was struck by a 1988 Acura. The driver of the 2005 Toyota was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and died the next day.
