With De La Hoya vs Mayweather on the horizon, who else is slated to fight this year? Or, if it was up to you, who would you like to see fight this year?

Here are mine:

Winky Wright/Jermain Taylor rematch.
Manny Pacquio/Juan Manuel Marquez
Winky Wright/Oscar De La Hoya
Harold Lederman/Larry Merchant

Joan Guzman is fighting Antonio Davis next week for Guzman's WBO junior lightweight title. Not a big fight, but I've been following Guzman for a couple years now and imo he is really impressive.

Juan Urango vs. Ricky Hatton Jan 20th

Joe Calzaghe vs. Peter Manfredo Jr. March 3
I'll be going for Manfredo (from the Contender 1) even though I think he's going to get his ass kicked.

That's pretty much it. I think James Toney is fighting in Jan, but that will probably be gay, would be much more entertaining to watch him in a hot dog eating contest against that Japanese kid

Calzaghe vs Manfredo got pushed back to April 7.

Valuev vs McCline in Jan.

Nothing major going on. I hope Pac and Marquez go at it again. I would like to see Margarito fight sooner than later. Darchinyan vs Arce would be a great match up.

I'd like to see
Miguel Cotto vs. Ricky Hatton
Laila Ali vs. Ann Wolf
Wink Wright vs. Jermain Taylor again

other than that boxing has been disappointing lately as far as match ups..

I wonder if Margarito is going to fight Cotto...I'd rather see that...even though I know that Paul The Punisher was supposed to be his next mandatory. I don't believe all the hype on Margarito...I think he has a good chin, and lots of power. ..but has just so-so defense...and he looks really sluggish.

I'm trying to go out to Vegas for that De La Hoya - Mayweather fight...I think De La Hoya is going to be too big and strong for Floyd..

I'd like to see Bernard come back to face Calzaghe also...I really want to see if Joe does like against Bernard, cause B-Hop shits on southpaws.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Taylor-Calzaghe, or Taylor Wright either...

IMO Margarito is TRASH...waaaay over hyped. A good fighter, mind you, but not anything great. Cotto would smash him to pieces. I'd like to see Cotto against someone like Diego Corrales (One of my favorites) at the same weight. Or Jose Luis Castillo...which reminds me, doesn't Castillo have a fight coming up? I think so.

Also, I think I'll be at the De La Hoya vs Mayweather fight. I'm POSITIVE Mayweather will win, simply because of his speed and elusiveness. De La Hoya is a great fighter, but Floyd's too fast for him. If Floyd did decide to fight a real fight, De La Hoya would probably beat him, but he's a smart fighter, so his BEST bet is to box and move, box and move. Pop-pop, move...don't let De La Hoya have a chance to have him on the ropes, in the corner, or standing in the middle of the ring.

Oh yeah, that big walrus of a fighter, the one who's like 7 feet tall...Jesus H. Christ, he's the biggest piece of shit I've seen in a while. He's a HORRIBLE boxer...his size and strength is what shits on these boo boo boxers he's beaten. I think Klitchko would eat him alive. Too bad Klitchko is about as good as we have these days...

WHERE ARE ALL THE HEAVYWEIGHTS?

Someone have Teddy Atlas call Star Jones.

lemme comment on why Cotto is good but not great.

He has power
He's big
Has a KO punch

after that its pretty much it...

-He doesnt give angles. And has been SLIGHTLY rocked by guys with minimal punching power.

-He doesnt have much of a famed defense (meaning counterpunching and punching goin backwards)

-He takes too many punches that will catch up to him when he fights someone with just as much power or slightly less power but very precise and able to put together serious combo's.

-I've yet to see him take the fight to someone just as good or better than him, and that ISNT because he's the best out there!

both are same style. Cotto is naturally bigger than Hatton and I dont see that as something worth happening cuz Hatton cant do big things at that weight. They are also the same style. If it had to resemble anything it would be like a Gatti-Ward fight

I agree, but you forgot to mention that Cotto gets hit a lot, but has shown a lot of character and heart, when he's been in trouble, he's always bounced back and come through in the end.

yeah but against WHO?? thats my point. he's had to show heart and bounce back against the no-body's pretty much. the good mf's dont always allow that, or even if he does bounce back physically he might not bounce back on the score cards

its kinda similar to how Tito Trinidad stormed William Floppy Joppy and then got handed a boxing lesson by B Hop, someone with skill first and power second. The Rope-A-Dope shows that without brain brawn can be easily defeated.. or look at most Wiky fights

Margarito is trash yet everyone in the game ducks him?

Margarito would crush Cotto.
What happened to the last prospect that everyone rode on? His name was Kermit Cintron and he got demolished. Cintron would also knock Miguel no-chin Cotto into next week.

I hope the people buy into it and they do fight, and Margarito opens as an under-dog in the fight. Straight payday...

The biggest name on his resume (to me) is Demarcus Corley. Chop Chop wobbled him several times. I have seen Cotto almost out twice, by no namers.

Paul Spadafora is back as well. Hopefully he will be making some noise soon.

Quintana, Malignaggi, and Demarcus Corley were all more than worthy opponents...2 of who were undefeated coming into their bouts with Cotto...hell...even Ceballos was a pretty good fighter, when they fought back in '03.

I think Cotto's definitely got room for improvement, but give him credit...I've been watching this guy for a minute, and he's only getting better...he might have a little more trouble @ welter, because he doesn't have the obvious size advantages that he's had...but I think that will make him step his boxing skills up more, especially his defense.

Marg has got lots of power, and a great chin...but still comes in head first a lot, and throws wide looping punches...his defense is so-so ( See the Clottey fight ? )...his hand speed is so-so...and has no lateral movement whatsoever...

I just don't see how anyone thinks that Margarito could be ready for Pretty Boy Floyd...when he had his share of problems with Clottey, up until Clottey broke his wrist..

I think that Cotto-Margarito would be an exciting fight though...supposedly its going down in June of 07, because of the mandatory bout that would have to take place in March...but we'll see...

Yeah, I saw him get chumped by that Joshua Whats-his-name in his last fight...yeah, "WHATS HIS NAME".

He was getting worked until the dumb kid broke his hand on his head.

Either way...let's fight.
