Yeah, I'll watch that fight. I just hope Klitchko doesn't pass out again, even though that was a long time ago.
I think Klitschko is much better than before, but we'll see. Either way the fight will end in a KO thats for sure.
I'm not against big slugfests with the lower classes.. They are exciting, but I dunno, I've just gotten kinda tired of boxing.. I think it probably is because everybody is protecting there fighters, and not many good fights are happening.
I understand where your coming from, boxing the sport has its major flaws.
But again it really depends on the fighter. Manny Pacquaio for example will fight anyone, and I've yet to see a boring Pacman fight. Diego Corrales was the same way - you knew with Diego, win or lose, he would make the fight entertaining and he only wanted to fight the best possible opponents.
Plus it may be a matter of simply not following the sport as well as you once did because in my opinion, there are lots of great fights coming up, such as:
Klitschko vs. Brewster
Arturo Gatti vs Gomez
Antonio Margarito vs Paul Williams
Roy Jones Jr. vs Hanshaw
Bernard Hopkins vs Winky Wright
Pacquaio vs Berrara
Kessler vs Calzaghe
Pavlik vs Taylor
Hatton should've definitely fought somebody tougher than Castillo for his last fight.
I don't know about that. Castillo is a solid fighter. He may be towards the end of his career and past his prime now, but there was really no way to say that prior to the fight. Really that fight made Hatton. Hatton was coming off two poor performances against mediocre fighters. Castillo was a huge test for him. Now he is considered a big name in boxing and will have a shot at possibly Mayweather or Paulie Malignaggi or another big name.
But really my argument, or point of view really, is just about entertainment value when comparing the two sports (the actual fights). Now if you want to compare how the two sports are run, thats a different story. The sport of boxing is hella fucked up and really needs to pay attention to the UFC and take notes. Really imo PPV is what hurt boxing the most. Now, almost all the good fighters only do PPV matches. There needs to be mandatory Title fights on prime time TV every so often or something like that to draw people back into the sport. They need to have big fights on ABC like back in the day. Now days because of PPV, most people never heard of most of the champions. I think if the sanctioning bodies made every so many title fights non-PPV and made deals with ABC or some shit it would revive the sport tremendously. They already impose mandatory fights, so why would it be so hard to have mandatory title fights on prime time tv? Plus, theres too many sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBO, IBF, WBC). That's fucking gay, no one wants there to be four heavyweight champions of the world! Fuck that, there can only be one.
