Lomachenko jumped to #5 in the WBO rankings after beating Jose Ramirez, who held a lesser WBO title. He stayed at #5 after losing to Salido, likely because Salido came in overweight and Lomachenko gave a good account of his abilities.

Gary Russell Jr. was ranked #1 and Chonlatarn (who Lomachenko just beat) was ranked #2, Kamil Laszczyk was ranked #3, Joel Brunker was ranked #4. Whether those guys had fights scheduled at the time the purse bid was ordered for the vacant title or passed up a fight with Gary Russell Jr who knows.

There you go, ssomeone actually posting details on the matter (which I admitted to HERESY several times I didn't know the rankings and situation).

Was there some kind of outrage in boxing regarding Lomachenko getting a title fight? lol on the contrary, hella people were interested and excited for it. It was a great fight for both Loma and Russell Jr, two highly decorated amateurs going at it to prove their worth. Good fight, people were interested in it and it paid both fighters well.

HERESY seems to somehow think that since I am complaining about fights like Danny Garcia vs Ron Salka I should oppose a good fight in Loma vs Russell Jr.? That doesn't compute.

My only point on the matter in the first place was that if Walters wants to unify, he'll need to fight Lomachenko eventually. Doesn't matter how many pro fights he is because the fact of the matter is he is a champ, that's really all there is to it.

Also, a point that was ignored, is that in Japan we see fighters with only a few fights get title shots all the time, it's not that unusual in boxing, it's just not the norm here in the states where more often than not guys go the Russell Jr or Deontay Wilder route.

Here is ssomething interesting regarding Al Haymon and how good he is, or possibly isn't, for his fighters. Pacquiao, Roach, etc all say Danny Garcia would be preferred next if no Mayweather. Garcia has no contract with Showtime. Would Haymon allow Garcia to fight Pacquiao on HBO for an obvious record payday and career defining moment? If not, well that's not working for the best interests of his fighter....

I think the most interesting part is that Arum did come out and say that Mayweather is up for the fight with Manny. With that being said, Haymon is starting to lose some control as far as what Showtime is gonna be willing to pay his fighters, and HBO is also losing cuz they can't escape the fact that fighters are signing to Haymon. I honestly believe that if the fight is to happen, it won't happen til fall of 2015. HBO needs to cash in on Canelo vs Cotto and Mayweather is not gonna fight Khan nor Alexander 3 months before Manny. Let's see what "advise" Haymon will give Garcia or Floyd.

hella random. I guess there is a new Em song where he mentions Paulie after talking about how Ronda Rousey wouldn't be able to turn him on or some shit '

I got a Magic Johnson
It's like a Magic Wand allows me to not let a blonde arouse me
If Ronda Rousey was on the couch with the condoms out
Holding a thousand Magnums at once to pounce me
I'll laugh in response to how she dances and flaunts it around me
Her flat little badonkadonk is bouncing around
And all I see is Paulie Malignaggi, she's slaughterhouse in a blouse

Pascal's Adviser Drops Grenades on Adonis Stevenson

By Rick Reeno

Greg Leon, adviser to former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17KOs), came firing with guns in both hands after reading some of the recent statements which appeared on BoxingScene.com from WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20KOs).

Among other things, Stevenson said Pascal's mandatory ranking was "a gift" and he was nothing more than an "undercard fighter" who deserved the low-end take of a "70-30" monetary split.

Yvon Michel, who promotes Stevenson and used to promote Pascal, has set aside an April date for the mandatory showdown. Pascal is currently under a three fight co-promotional deal between his own company, where Leon is the CEO, and InterBox.

[...]

"I imagine it's because he used to be a pimp that he lacks appreciation for the money others, and in this case, Jean Pascal has allowed him to make. You see Stevenson's title challenge against Chad Dawson was an absolute gift from Jean Pascal that he's never said thank you for. Jean Pascal preferred to make history in Canada [with Lucian Bute] rather than fight [Dawson] a guy he already defeated, who was coming off a terrible one sided stoppage loss to Andre Ward. These are just facts. Adonis Stevenson hasn't faced a quality boxer who won their last bout. Dawson and Cloud were both coming off their worst losses and Fonfara was a solid ESPN fighter until Stevenson's subpar performance turned him into the next Al Haymon client," Leon stated to BoxingScene.com.

"Not that anyone has ever accused Adonis Stevenson of being smart, but in trying to diminish Jean Pascal he admits to ducking what he views as an undercard fighter. If Pascal is an undercard fighter, Dmitry Sukhotsky is a walkout bout caliber fighter. If Adonis understood the business of boxing even a little bit, he would understand that Jean Pascal has a deal in place that is exponentially better than his. Pascal's deal with InterBox gives him more financial protection than any other boxer in the world not named Mayweather, Alvarez or Klitschko."

"In 2014, Stevenson flat out ducked Kovalev, Hopkins and Jean Pascal. He turned down multiple career high paydays and Pascal would have been the biggest payday of them all, in favor of Sukhotsky. Need I say more? Al Haymon should give a quick tug to the string that controls Adonis Stevenson's mouth and shut him up, because the more he talks the dumber he sounds. He also overlooks the fact that he turned down 60% of all the revenue to make the fight happen on December 6.

"One side says 70-30, the other one says 50-50. When you want to make a deal you find the middleground. 40-60 was the middleground and after already ducking Kovalev and Hopkins, Adonis once again showed his true colors and put the final nail into his cowardly coffin.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again, in his two fights with Hopkins and the Bute fight, Jean Pascal has sold more tickets and generated more revenue than Adonis has in his entire career. Pascal has been in three of highest grossing fights ever in Canada and Stevenson was not involved in the other two.

"There were 22,000 fans in attendance for the Bute fight. That is more than Adonis has in his title challenge and three subsequent defenses combined. Adding the gates for the two Hopkins fight, Carl Froch and the two Diaconu fights only further defines who is clearly the bigger draw of the two.

"Hey Adonis, you know what I've never seen before? A fighter of the year using all of that momentum to become universally recognized as the biggest coward in boxing the very next year. I've also never seen a 37-year-old with just one seven-figure purse under his belt talk so much nonsense about money.

"Please allow me to leave you with one more interesting fact. After his humiliating loss to Darnell Boone - this boxing brain signed a multi-year deal with Groupe Yvon Michel, the only company that showed any interest in him, for 40 cents on the dollar. I can't be the only one who only hears quacking whenever Adonis Stevenson speaks. Can I?"

add that comedy to go along with Ruslan fighting Castillo and Mickey Rouke at age 62 on the same card.
The sad part is both of those cards have actual good fights on them. As many stupid fights that I watch I'll likely just fast forward the Rourke fight when it comes .. no interest in seeing him fighting a 1-9 or whatever the guy is.

Pascal Is Being Considered for Kovalev’s Next Opponent

Haitian-born boxer Jean Pascal listens aSergey Kovalev might get his shot at a Canadian light heavyweight after all. Except it might not be the one you’re expecting. For 2014, the fight every fan wanted was a showdown between Sergey Kovalev and Haitian born Canadian Adonis Stevenson.

Stevenson signed with Al Haymon and jumped to Showtime and the fight never came to fruition. We thought Stevenson jumped to Showtime to secure a fight with Bernard Hopkins. However, it was Hopkins that turned the tide and jumped to HBO to fight Kovalev.

Kovalev defeated Hopkins decisively on November 8th and in turn was the holder of 3 belts. A fight with Adonis Stevenson who holds the lineal title and the 4th belt in the division would make for a fight for the undisputed champion of the 175 lb. division. However, boxing politics may be in the way of that and many still wonder if Stevenson wants that fight.

According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael Jean Pascal, who fights next week is in consideration to be Kovalev’s next opponent next year.

“There have been some discussions,” Kathy Duva, Kovalev’s promoter told ESPN.com regarding a possible Kovalev-Pascal fight. “But of course we have an IBF mandatory to consider as well.”

The IBF mandatory is Nadjib Mohammedi who is also promoted by Kathy Duva’s Main Events. A fight like that might not garner much interest from HBO or the fans alike in the manner that a fight with Pascal would.

Pascal who is a draw in Montreal tried to secure a fight as the mandatory to Stevenson’s WBC belt but terms could not be agreed upon. A fight between Pascal and Stevenson would be huge in Canada but it seems that both sides are far apart financially.

So an interesting prospect is a Kovalev-Pascal fight in Canada should Pascal win next week.

BILL WALLER: "I GOT A LOT OF RESPECT FOR AL HAYMON...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ATHLETE"

PC: Looking at your story and interviewing you, it's like you were the first Al Haymon before Al got into boxing.

BW: The funny thing is, when I was managing Bootsy Collins in Cincinnati, who I managed for 9 years and who is another brother of mine who I love; he has Bootzilla Productions, he's doing the same thing like LA Reid, but when I was doing that, Al Haymon was doing concerts. He was promoting concerts, "The Budfest!" So I got a lot of respect for Al Haymon. I got a lot of respect for him because he thinks about the boxer too, just like he thought about the entertainers. He paid the entertainers well. We both have the same vision. It's all about the athlete at the end of the day. Who better to run a basketball team than a former champion. Phil Jackson, former basketball player, now president. Pat Riley, former world champion, running teams. Look at the football coaches who are winning championships. So former boxers will make great businessmen in the 13th round. But I got a lot of respect for what Al Haymon is doing because he went to the next round from promoting concerts to advising boxers. Well, I went from managing boxers to promoting concerts.

PC: And both of you guys are from Ohio. He's from Cleveland.

BW: Oh, I didn't know he was from Ohio. I didn't know that. I used to go to Cleveland to see Mark McCormack at International Management. He was my godfather in terms of being an agent. He used to want me to come and recruit black quarterbacks and I said, "Nah, nah. I want to do my own thing." But I learned from him because he had Arnold Palmer and a lot of tennis players. He allowed me to promote some of his tennis players. So it was always somebody who was there that saw in a young African American who wanted to be an entrepreneur and was willing to help me out; like Butch Lewis, like Bob Arum and HBO. Ross Greenburg, who was formerly with HBO, he was a guy who I had his ear. He was a good guy. I love HBO, Bob Arum, Butch Lewis, and the Tony Tubbs' of the world. I can't forget to mention that in the beginning of me managing boxers, Robert 'Bob' Lee, founder of the IBF was VP of another commission at the time, taught me how to read the rules book and taught me the term purse bid. As a result, I took Aaron Pryor's fight to a purse bid. I have never personally met Al Haymon, but I got a lot of respect for what he is doing, man. But I don't want to be a manager anymore. I'm done with that, man (laughing). I was the excuse. "Was he with your wife last night?" "Well, ask Bill. He is the manager." No, no, no, no! I'm over that. But it's a pleasure to be the COO of K9 Boxing Global Promotions and helping him towards his 13th round. And when I see that he's got it, then I'm just there for as long as he needs me. That's how you do it. If you love what you do and do what you love and deliver more than you promise; you always have to deliver more than you promise and be honest with your guys and you will be great. You look at this first K9 Boxing Global Promotions. I told the champ, "You gonna get 2 checks now." He said, "What do you mean two checks?" I said, "You gonna get your money for your purse and then after that, you put your business hat on as a CEO and you get one for promoting the event." And Leon [Margules] from Warriors Boxing is a good guy, even though he gets on my nerves, but you wanna know our connection? You gonna laugh when I tell you this. When I played for the Saints, he was selling beer in the stands while in law school at Tulane.

PC: No way!

BW: Yep! So when he told me that, I knew we were gonna work it out to go to Cancun. I wasn't going nowhere but Cancun. So we get to Cancun and I say, "Leon, why didn't you tell me we didn't have no TV, man?" He said, "Well, you're the co-promoter with K9 Boxing," so I said, "Okay, let's hustle it out. I got 32 days." So we wind up making good. We did alright. We ended up making 5 figures in foreign broadcast. We had China and Indonesia. So I said, "K9, do you realize that your company co-promoted and we did television and sponsorship stuff. We didn't make a lot, but you gonna get a little side figure check on that as well." He said, "Really?" I told him, "You see what I mean. The third check will come when I get you an endorsement with Subway or someone like that." You gotta teach these things to boxers as time goes on. You have to let them know that when NFL players retire, they go on and be sports announcers, they go on to be a coach. Where do boxers go? Where do our champions go? Some of them go on to be trainers, but you're not wearing a suit and tie training fighters. The way that Oscar De La Hoya is running Golden Boy, you're gonna run K9 Boxing Global Inc. and he's gonna make a way for other boxers to always work towards the 13th round because boxing is going to end one day. The thing is, K9 is still a young man. The average man lives until he's 80 now. What is he gonna do? We want K9 to fight in January or February before his mandatory defense.

PC: You have a couple of aliases. "$8 million dollar man," "Dollar Bill" and the "Brand Master." You carry a lot of titles.

BW: Yeah, I told you how I got the title $8 million dollar man when I tried to make Aaron Pryor and Ray Mancini. "Dollar Bill" came from Bootsy Collins. I told Bootsy I was going to Arista to get him a contract. I was at his house and he said, "Look, I love you, but you gotta remember this, you're here to get them dollars." So I went and got Clive Davis to give him a $17.2 million dollar contract to sign with Arista. And I called him on the phone and I get his answering service. And I say...I call him #1 because he's the number one Funkateer of all time. I said, "#1" He said, "What?" I say, "We got 17." he said, "17 what?" I said, "17 million." He got choked up and couldn't even talk. He said, "17 million dollar bills?" He got so nervous, he just kept saying, "17 million dollar bills?" So he said, "Look, get them dollars Bill," and hung up the phone. So when he saw me, he said, "Okay Dollar Bill, that's your name now. I got all confused over the phone. Did I hear you right?" I said, "Yeah man, you heard me right. You got a 6-year contract for $17 million dollars with Arista." But now people call me the "Brand Master" because I came up with all these names I would give people and they would take those names and do something with 'em. You take LA Reid. A lot of people don't know what the LA stand for. I do. They probably think it's because he lived in Los Angeles. That's not true. He was the leader of The Deal and he was like my brother. And because he was running about 6'5", we used to call him Little Antonio. His name is Antonio Reid. I used to always say, "Where is Little Antonio," and he said, "Man, stop calling me Little Antonio." So I said, "Okay, we gonna start calling you LA." And from that point on, we been calling him LA Reid. But it was really for Little Antonio. And then when Bootsy...because at the same time I was managing Bootsy, Bootsy couldn't remember Kenny Edmonds name. He said, "What's that one, the one that can sing? The baby face looking one?" He said, "That's what we gonna call him. Babyface." So when we put together the company, I said, "What are we gonna call the production," because I was getting them a production deal with Solar. LA Reid said, "We'll just call it LaFace," because the other two partners didn't want their name in it, so we called it La and Face because LA Reid and Babyface was 50/50 partners.

God blessed me, man, because I started when they started. It was so bad because I was the same age as my clients. And they used to say, "How you gonna manage us and you our age." They used to call me the "Wiz Kid" because I had all of these ideas. Now I named one of my staff members, who is a junior executive, I call him the "Wiz Kid" because he reminds me of me. He is like 20 years old. But I had all of these crazy ideas, me and Bootsy, and that's why we hit it off so well. When K9 fought Ishe Smith, show you how crazy I am, I went and got two K9 dogs and I said, "You going in the ring with these two K9 dogs." And David [Itskowitch], who is now over there at Roc Nation, said, "You can't bring two dogs in the ring." I said, "Why can't I? Watch me!" He said, "You can't do that. They won't allow it." I told them they are gonna allow it. So I went and I showed the people at Showtime that Nelson Mandela had just sent an email to K9 that said, "Good luck, champ. I used to be a boxer," because you know I'm close to Nelson Mandela people in South Africa. I showed it to K9 and I showed it to Showtime and they said, "If you let us put that Nelson Mandela sent him a note, then you can carry them dogs in." So if you go back and look at that footage, the two cops are walking K9 to the ring with two K9 dogs. So that's the kind of promoting I do and that came from Butch Lewis because he used to do crazy things. He wasted stuff on his shirt one time and he was like, "I gotta go change and get something else to wear." I said, "Man, take your shirt off. Go out with your tux and your bow tie. You don't need your shirt. That can become your image. Don King got the hair; you do that." he said, "Man, that's why I love you, come on." And Butch started doing that and that became one of his trademarks.

Joel Diaz Has Split Show Duties in Las Vegas on 12/13

By Steve Kim

Trainer Joel Diaz will be a busy man on the night of December 13th in Las Vegas, where both Top Rank and Golden Boy are staging cards on the strip. Diaz trains both Tim Bradley and Victor Ortiz who are scheduled to be on those shows which created a bit of a logistical problem for Diaz.

Eventually, that was rectified.

"It's just a matter of organizing my team, organizing my schedule,"said the noted cornerman, who explained,"When I got a call from Sam Watson and he put Al Haymon on the line, he told me,'I know your priority is Tim Bradley, I'd like to have Victor fight on that card on the same day at the MGM (Grand), what would it take for it to happen and it could work?'

"I said,'Well, if you give me enough time it will happen.' He said, 'Well, is it OK if we can have Victor fight between five and six o'clock on a Showtime Extreme event and that will give you plenty of time, that will give you two to three hours to get back to Bradley.' I said that would work."

On the night that Showtime has a card featuring the welterweight clash between Amir Khan and Devon Alexander, HBO's broadcast which features Bradley's bout against Diego Chaves, as part of a triple-header from the Cosmopolitan is slated to start at 7 p.m locally.
