They said Canelo rehydrated to 172. Trout himself was 170. I know Golovkin rehydrates to about 164-166. Make it happen lol!

I wonder if that's why Canelo has stamina problems. Gaining almost 20 pounds in 24 hours cant be good. Although Chavez does the same thing and he seems to have unlimited stamina so who knows.
Oh yea man I agree. Trout is big enough to fight Canelo and didnt look out of place at all. They could both probably fight at 160 obviously. Floyd however never makes weight when he fights at 154 meaning he is always under and its cool for fighters to move up and fight for belts but at some point its dangerous if u fight the wrong guy that is that much bigger than u. Canelo would be a giants in the ring against Mayweather lol. While I obviously think Floyd would be much quicker and obviosuly much more skilled, if Canelo were to hit Mayweather square on he would probably knock Floyd out real talk. This is comin from a Floyd fan but its just being real. The size difference is to much in my eyes. Got Em!!

If anyone remembers several days ago the rumor that Errol Spence KOd Broner well I got the inside scoop from a trainer that was there.

What happened was Spence nailed Broner with a monster shot and hurt/rocked Broner, but Broner didn't get KOd or knocked down. They immediately stopped the action and took Spence out of the ring. After Broner cleared his senses, he called Spence to come back in the ring to spar some more but the trainers wouldn't have it.

Additionally it was Spence that gave Floyd his black eye. The reports aren't that Spence wasn't whooping floyd or anything like that, only it was an extremely competitive and intense sparring session between the two both gave a lot of respect after.

Anyways, pretty cool war stories. I was really big on Spence and Terrell Gausha in the Olympics, two guys to definitely keep your eyes on.

Yea I think Spence can and will make some noise. Way to big for Broner and Floyd though even if its just sparring. Got Em!!

Wait why is Broner fighting Paulie again?
I still haven't figured this one out.

Khan to have his second tune up fight. I thought it only takes one. Some champs don't even want that. A second one? Whatever...

I don't dislike Danny Garcia too much. If it wasn't for his Dad he wouldn't be so hated. He's a pretty solid fighter for the most part. I don't expect Zab to be the one to derail Garcia.

The word nigga is used in the Eastcoast like we use fool in the West. But for whatever reason I do want Judah to win to stir shit up in that division
I remember the first time I met a kid from California here in Kansas City.

he called me fool.....and I took it as disrespect because you know you don't call people that shit you don't know. So I slapped him up real quick.

That California habit went away real quick.

I feel bad now thinking about it but he had to learn. Some of that West Coast shit don't go here in the midwest. Same with Eastcoast

I guese the Khan logic is they want a couple fights with his new trainer. Still, I don't like how Golden Boy is apparently letting khan fight the winner of Matthysse Peterson / Garcia.

Canelo’s trainer: We are ready for Sergio Martinez or Mayweather on September 14th
April 25th, 2013 | Post Comment

sergio martinez saul alvarez floyd mayweather jr boxing By Dan Ambrose: Eddie Reynoso, the trainer for WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canel” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s), says that they are targeting Floyd Mayweather Jr. and/or Sergio Martinez for Canelo’s next fight date on September 14th in a fight that will likely be put back in Texas.

No word about the open scoring that the World Boxing Council used to great effect, but you’d have to figure that’ll be part of the deal as well. Having the fight in Texas plus semi-open scoring for Canelo’s next fight, which would likely be a deal breaker for landing Mayweather or Martinez.

Reynoso said to Vanguardia.com.mx “We are ready for the big fights; we are ready for Mayweather and Maravilla. They are rivals that really interest us, and hopefully they want this because Canelo is ready.”

Mayweather isn’t going to fight someone that out-weighs him by 25 pounds like Canelo, so Reynoso needs to tell Canelo in plain language that he needs to forget about that fight ever happening. Until Canelo is ready to fight the cruiserweights that are 25 pounds heavier than him like Marco Huck or even a super middleweight like Andre Ward, he needs to forget all about Mayweather.

He’s just wasting his breath and coming across as desperate. If Canelo is as popular as his fans think he is then he and his trainer don’t need to hound Mayweather for a fight. Instead, Canelo should be fighting guys in his own weight class – super middleweight to cruiserweight – and be content to fight guys that weight as much as him.

Martinez may or may not take a fight with Canelo. I haven’t heard that he was interested in facing him. Martinez wants to fight a rematch with former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. later on this year. A fight against Canelo is impossible with the two fighters having their fights televised on different networks.

Martinez fights on HBO, and Canelo fights on Showtime. That right there tells you they will never fight until one of them moves to a different network. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Miguel Cotto has been mentioned as a possibility for Canelo but I don’t think he’ll agree to the fight unless Golden Boy makes a huge, huge offer. Cotto probably won’t agree to fight in Texas and I don’t see him saying yes to open scoring, so that’ll be a real downer for Canelo I guess and the WBC.

If the WBC is going to insist that all of Canelo’s opponents agree to their open scoring in order to fight him, Canelo could be stuck with very opponents because who wants to be on the receiving end up lopsided scoring in Texas and having to change their game like Austin Trout did to make up rounds that shouldn’t have had to in the first place.

Canelo needs to fight Trout again to erase the doubts in the minds of boxing fans about Canelo’s controversial 12 round decision over him. That decision will follow Canelo around like a skunk for the remainder of his career unless he can clear it up by showing that he can beat Trout without controversy, without open scoring and in a fight outside of Texas.

Should effective aggression have more value, when scoring a fight?
April 25th, 2013 | Post Comment

guillermo rigondeaux By Gerardo Granados: There are others factors to take in account to properly score a bout but is it possible to modify the rules in order to benefit the ratings and earnings? A friend of mine asked me if Guillermo Rigondeaux will become the next Oscar De la Hoya just after seen him defeat 2012 unofficial Boxingnews24 fighter of the year Nonito Donaire, but does Rigondeaux future looks so bright and unlimited?

Golden Boy´s fighting style allow him to achieve world titles in six different weight divisions, fame and glory, multimillion dollar purses and became a huge pay per view attraction; but is Rigondeaux fighting style appreciated mainly by boxing purists?

Boxing as a sport is great, it´s in deed a sweet science, it is a martial art that will allow you do defend yourself from a bigger and stronger aggressor. Rigondeaux boxing style is the ideal example on how to defeat that kind of opponent but is it fan friendly?

It is a fact that professional boxing is a business that can generate big revenues for all the involved. The boxing industry is not limited to the teaching of the proper techniques and development of skills of the sport aspect; local gyms look forward to have an income that will allow them to pay the bills of operation; there are many brands of boxing equipment and boxing gear; all kind of paraphernalia related to boxing; many local boxing events around the world; television has a big influence on fans and his goal is to bring good ratings on free events and mainly on pay per view in order to take profit; even Hollywood has had a long time association with the boxing industry and the Rocky movies saga is just one example.

Professional boxing is a show that is bought by an audience that looks for different emotions than the ones that you can get when attending to the opera, ballet or a major chess tournament. The majority of boxing fans watch the fights because they enjoy the controlled violence inside that ring.

A prizefighter fights for money. If the fighter is skilled and has charisma he will be able to earn a million dollar purse, if he has that special personality he will be followed by many loyal fans.

The boxing fans want to watch a thrilling fight, skilled brave fighters who engage and they will pay to do so. The majority of boxing fans can be considered as casual and they are the ones who buy most of the main events.

Many other sports have made modifications to the game rules in order to increase ratings. The NFL protects quarter backs; you should watch video of past quarter backs Johnny Unitas, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staubach or Phil Sims getting hit after throwing the ball. At the NBA back in 1990 the Detroit Pistons were allowed to play a hard physical defense, how would Lebron James perform versus them? At Soccer find video on Edson Arantes Do´nacimento “Pelé” trying to survive terrible fouls, now a day it is inconceivable to see that Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to get hit that way. But boxing is a contact sport, isn´t it?

Under these premises is it possible to validate the need for the scoring change? Is favoring the effective aggression fan friendly boxing style positive or could it led to fans to stop watching pro boxing? I asked to casual fans if they knew the names of Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr., Julio Cesar Chavez, Mike Tyson, Ricky Hatton, Roberto Duran, Evander Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao, Thomas Hearns and Oscar De la Hoya and they knew them all; then I asked the name of Willie Pep but no one knew who he was.

Rigondeaux is an exquisite boxer, really skilled but lacks charisma and his boxing style might not be appreciated by the casual boxing fans. Even his Promoter Bob Arum rushed to give excuses for the lack luster performance of Nonito Donaire; he stated that Rigondeaux boxing style would be hard to sell and already has plans for the loser of the fight. But what about Rigondeaux, can he become a fan friendly fighter?

Previous the fight of Victor Terrazas versus Cristian Mijares for the vacant WBC super bantamweight title they were asked if they wanted to fight Rigondeaux but both showed no interest. It has been reported that it is possible that Terrazas will fight Donaire, why? Is it a more sell-able fight?

The aggressive fan friendly boxing style sells. Defensive boxing style sells less. Is it true? Will the prizefighters be economically benefited if the scoring system is changed and the rating would rise? Amateur boxing will have major rule changes in order to increase the interest of boxing fans but will pro boxing risk to have major rule changes in order to increase ratings?

It is almost impossible to avoid controversial fight scoring, but is it possible to improve the spectacle of pro boxing by favoring effective aggression?

The problem with this dumb ass article is Donaire was not effective in his aggression!!! Effective aggression is already one of the most important factors in scoring a fight but the keyword here is EFFECTIVE!

By the way who was running in the 12th round? Donaire and Rigondeaux was chasing him trying to score a KO. Not every fight is going to be Gatti vs Ward, boxing is boxing. Just like in MMA some fights are action packed some are less crowd pleasing that's the nature of combat sports.

Also Rigondeaux is very charismatic only problem is he doesn't speak English and he's Cuban. If Rigondeaux was from Canada, England or Puerto Rico he would be a big star. Unfortunately Cubans have a very small fanbase.

Great fucking article and I agree with every word. Who da fuck does Canelo and his camp think he is to try to demand a fight with Floyd & Sergio and that the fight will be in Texas with open scoring???? Thats the funniest shit I have ever heard! First off like the article said he is way to big for Floyd and he needs to fight fighters his own damn size and quit trying to beat up on little dudes. 2ndly he thinks if he could land fights with the likes of Floyd & Serg that he and his camp would call the shots on where the fight will take place??? Thats to funny! This dude needs to give Trout his rematch but I know they wont because they know how close the last fight was and Trout would do even better the 2nd time around. Boy this Canelo and his camp crack me up day after day with some if the shit that comes out of there. Got Em!!

It makes zero sense. Sure Paulie has some title but no one considers him a world champion, he even got a gift decision in his last fight against Cano . Plus they say broner will move down to 140 after so what's the point? It's not like Paulie is some cash cow either. .
