Roach to Mayweather: Manny will be bigger than you in the ring

By John F. McKenna (McJack): It is well known that World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26 KO’s) is a master when it comes to trash talking. He has used his trash talking for years as a way to enhance his image as one of the premier bad boys in boxing. Recently in one of Floyd’s ongoing and seemingly unending tirades against his number one rival WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) he referred to Manny as the “little man” and said that “he can come get it on May 5th”.

Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach is a pretty fair trash talker in his own right. He fired a verbal shot back across the bow at Mayweather. Roach was quoted by DaTruthSports.com saying the following:

“They tell me Mayweather’s his own boss, and he calls all the shots, but why is Leonard Ellerbe making an announcement that he wants to fight us. Leonard Ellerbe is just one of his flunkies, let’s face it, come on. You can call us out. You can call Manny by his name, but don’t call him the little man, because we don’t know who your referring to, because Manny will be a lot bigger than you when he’s standing over you in the ring.”

Of course “Money” not willing to let the Pacquiao camp have the last word will fire back with his own salvo.

As far as the long anticipated super fight between Pacquaio and Mayweahter it does appear that progress is being made and supposedly the major hurdles of the lucrative financial breakdown for both fighters and blood testing has already been worked out.
The defamation lawsuit that Pacquiao brought against Mayweather would still have to be worked out. Manny has undoubtedly accrued a considerable amount of legal fees in pursuit of his lawsuit against Floyd and more than likely those fees will not just be swept under the rug.

Inside sources say that Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz’s visit to the Mayweather gym in which he spoke amicably with Floyd broke the ice for future negotiations. It is not known what role if any Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya or Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer have played thus far in putting the huge fight together.

Don’t start celebrating just yet. We have been on the brink before only to see everything fall apart for one reason or another.

Are you seriouS!?>!?!?!!>>!

Bam Bam couldn't fucking make weight? after I convinced the folks coming down my crib tonight to watch him fight and he does this dumb shit?
that's what happened to pacquiao he starved himself to make weight, couldn't, came in a pound over, lost the belt on the scales, got KO'd, then moved up two weight classes immediately after as a result. Of course, some floyd fans will tell you this is proof that he can't take a punch :dead:

^^But you as a Manny fan have no problem with Manny making ODLH, Cotto, and Margarito all fight him at a catchweight. They were all weight drained and lost the fight on the scales before even coming to the ring. Maybe that's why ODLH, Cotto, Margarito couldn't take Manny punches that good. I'm using your logic too. I'm just pointing out your double standards.

why does everything have to involve manny or floyd with you? seriously man it's annoying.

ODLH was not a catchweight, they fought at 147 which was oscar's idea. He was a huge favorite against pacquiao who was moving up from 135, it's not pac's fault oscar looked like trash.

Cotto was one pound catchweight, much like tonights fight Cotto vs Margarito is at 153 catchweight (one pound).

but I love your logic. Manny beat these guys because they were weight drained. Old. Shot. And of course manny is on juice! lmao

As for donaire what are you trying to imply? That he should fight mares or whoever at a catchweight? What for? Those guys are no where near in the same class as donaire I think it's a waste of time. Vic already get utterly destroyed by donaire, no point in that either. Rematches are typically good if the first fight is close not in a blowout. It would be like Hopkins rematching Trinidad or something stupid like that...no point. Donaire is moving up in weight and I expect him to be at 126 by the end of next year if not 130. No point looking back. I'd much rather see Donaire vs Rigondeaux at 122 or Donaire vs Gamboa at 126, now those are great fights.

That's funny you was the one that was talking about Floyd and I just pointed out your double standard. Don't get mad. Donaire can fight the winner of King Kong vs Mares, you know the guys in his weight class right now.

my bad I thought we were in the other thread talking about donaire lmao

anyways, there is a difference in making weight in the very own weight class you fight in and losing an extra pound, then say growing out of your weight class like what just happened to Rios and what happened to pac 10+ years ago.

Oscar however it proved it was a dumb decision on his part to make 147 pounds. That's his own fault "cherry picking" a 135 pounder instead of fighting Margarito, which is what everyone wanted at that time.

If one pound didn't matter why have a catchweight fight in the 1st place?? I can answer that for you because one pound does smart guy.

if it's only one pound tbh it's pointless and doesn't serve any real purpose. usually it's the result of negotiating for example cotto wanted to fight margarito at 150, margarito said no and they eventually agreed on 153 (which is pointless). Same goes for cotto vs pacquiao, pacquiao wanted 142 originally, cotto said no so they finally agreed on 145 or 146 or whatever it was.

Arum: Maybe May 5th isn’t a good date for Pacquiao-Mayweather; Pacquiao has a serious

Arum: Maybe May 5th isn’t a good date for Pacquiao-Mayweather; Pacquiao has a serious cut

By Chris Williams: It looks like Bob Arum is already trying to get out of matching his cash cow fighter Manny Pacquiao against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5th, because Pacquiao sustained a bad cut in his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. Is Arum stalling for time? As soon as Mayweather beats Pacquiao the gravy train is going to come to a screeching halt. I smell fear.

Arum said “It doesn’t have to happen on May 5. If Floyd wants to fight Pacquiao, maybe another date is preferable given the fact that Pacquiao had a serious cut in his last fight. So there’s no magic in May 5 as far as we’re concerned. There is magic in a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.”

Isn’t six months enough time for Pacquiao’s cut to be healed? Why would he need even more time? I saw close ups of the cut and it didn’t look like a cut that needed six or more months for it to heal. Is Arum looking to get out of the fight so he can continue matching Pacquiao up with his Top Rank stable fighters? We’ve already seen Pacquiao fight Top Rank stable fighters Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto.

Do we need another delay in the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight for Pacquiao to fight another one of them?

Mayweather Jr. said he wants to fight on May 5th, so Arum needs to try as hard as he can to make the fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. Arum can work quickly when he wants to. He arranged the Pacquiao-Clottey fight practically overnight. But that was after they gave up on the Mayweather fight due to Pacquiao not agreeing to the cutoff date that Mayweather wanted for blood tests for performance enhancing drugs.

I’d hate to see Arum put off the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight even longer and risk Pacquiao getting beaten by someone. He’s clearly slipped a notch as a fighter, and I can see him getting beaten by one of these guys sooner or later unless Arum matches him up with some soft targets.

Arum wants Cotto vs. Chavez Jr. at Madison Square Garden in New York

By Jason Kim: After last Saturday’s win for World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (36-2, 29 KO’s) over Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27 KO’s), there promoter Bob Arum gave his preferences for what he wants Cotto to do next by saying he wants Cotto to fight again in Madison Square Garden in New York, this time against undefeated WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31 KO’s).

Arum might have to do some major arm twisting to get Chavez Jr. and his team to agree to fighting Cotto in New York, because the surroundings are less than neutral and it’s doubtful that Chavez Jr. would be overjoyed at facing boos from a large hostile Puerto Rican audience.

It would put Chavez Jr. in a strange position, as he’s been pretty well coddled by Arum for the past few years and he’s usually matched where he’s guaranteed to get large pro-Chavez Jr. audiences. Chavez Jr. likely won’t have a large Mexican crowd if he agrees to fight Cotto in New York and that could make it hard for Arum to get him to agree to this.

Arum might need to make this fight in Las Vegas, Nevada, because I think it might prove too difficult for Arum to get Chavez Jr. to agree to New York. Arum needs to make sure he doesn’t step on Chavez’s toes because he’s going to be around a lot longer than Cotto, and burning bridges this early on isn’t a good thing.

Cotto beat Antonio Margarito last weekend by a doctor’s stoppage in the beginning of the 10th round.

right, if you can't make weight in the first place. that's my point.

cotto had no problem making welterewight, he came from 140 and weighed 146 his fight prior.
If Cotto had no problem making 147lb, then why was his last fight at 147lb was against Manny?? LOL, because Cotto can't make 147lb anymore. Any fighter/boxer will tell you that weight is a big factor in any fight and training camp.

Cotto could easily make 147, he's not even close to being a true junior middleweight.

The only reason cotto left 147 was because after he got beat by Pacquiao, there was nobody left to fight. He beat Shane Mosley, Judah, Clottey, fought Margarito & Manny. There was no one left in the division. Bob Arum got a title shot against Yuri Foreman, which was a great opportunity to become champion again after losing to manny and he took it, thus he moved up in weight.

If he couldn't make 147, why do you think Cotto tried to have his rematch with Margarito at a catchweight of 150 pounds (despite being the 154 champ)? Cuz he's small for a JMW that's why. He's only 5'7

Mayweather, Berto, and Paul Williams was still at 147lbs when Cotto left.
Cotto got a catchweight for the Margarito fight because he wanted the advantage of making Margarito have to lose that 1lb, just like Manny made him do.
