lol, paulie is hella weak. why doesn't he box if he cant ko a 6 year old girl? so he has no power and clinches a lot. what does he offer? he sucks, glad that guido fuck lost and had tears in his eyes.

on the undercard james kirkland clearly needs a bit of polishing to do on his craft, but that vera guy has an iron face. plus he weighed in at 171 pounds so I think that kept him up for so long. he took some serious punishment from Kirkland.

Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley Confirmed as Done Deal

By Robert Morales

Bob Arum on Monday confirmed that a last-minute deal has been reached for a Jan. 24 fight between welterweight champion Antonio Margarito of Mexico and "Sugar" Shane Mosley of Pomona, Calif.

It will take place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The accord came just days after the fight appeared dead in the water. Margarito was not happy with a 50-50 split of the purse and had rejected the fight.

But HBO stepped back up to the plate.

"They agreed to make an additional payment to Margarito through us on the basis that he is the champion and that solidified the deal," said Arum, who promotes Margarito under his Top Rank Inc. banner.

Arum said that Mosley and Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, have signed off on the deal. Arum said Margarito and his management team also have given their approval. Margarito hasn't actually signed the contract, but Arum said that would come "whenever we get everything ready. But it's done."

Arum said that this is going to be a good way to start off 2009, which, until this, had little in the way of big fights scheduled for the first quarter of the new year.

"It's good, competitive fight and that always helps boxing," Arum said. "And people don't have to go to their pocketbooks because it is not a pay-per-view fight."

Winky Wright Injured, December 4 Return is Canceled

By Mark Vester

If was too good to be true, Winky Wright was set to return to the ring on December 4 against unheralded Michi Munoz, ending a 17-month layoff. It was too good to be true, David Itskowitch, COO for Golden Boy Promotions, informed Dan Rafael that Wright injured his left hand during training and has pulled out per doctor's orders. The card, headed by the Wright fight, was set to be televised on the Versus network and is now canceled.

"He injured his left hand near the base of the hand near his wrist," Itskowitch said. "He hit someone on top of the head while he was sparring and the hand started swelling up. He had an MRI but I was told he has a 33 percent decrease of strength in his hand."

Wright has been inactive since a July 2007 decision loss to Bernard Hopkins. The Munoz bout was going to be a tuneup for an HBO date in early 2009.

Haha...you know I truly hope that Winky hasn't priced himself out of his prime.

He's one of my favorites, and I know he hasn't really been in many wars in his career, just based on his fighting style...so hopefully his body can hold up and he can still get a big fight. It would be a shame to see if he didn't.

ANGULO VS MAYORGA FEB 14 2009

Undefeated junior welterweight sensation ALFREDO “Perro” ANGULO of Mexico, has picked up the scent of his next victim – former world champion Ricardo Mayorga. The Angulo-Mayorga junior middleweight rumble will take place on February 14, 2009 – Valentine’s Day – and will be televised live on HBO. “I’m going to leave forget-me-knots all over his nicotine-stained face,” growled Angulo, whose nickname “Perro” translates to “dog” in English. “Mayorga isn’t going to have to wait until the last second to get knocked out like he did with Shane Mosley. I’m going after him like a dog on a bone the second the first bell rings. He is so done.” Added Gary Shaw, Angulo’s promoter, “I don’t know what possessed Mayorga to accept this fight. Maybe they should be checking the contents on of his cigarettes!”Angulo (14-0, 11 KOs), of Mexico is riding a 10-bout victory-by-knockout streak dating back to 2006. The former Mexican Olympian is currently world-rated No. 3 by the WBC, No. 5 by the WBO and No. 8 by the IBF. Mayorga (28-7-1, 22 KOs), from Nicaragua, has a resume that boasts victories over Vernon Forrest, Fernando Vargas and Andrew Lewis and world titles in the welterweight and super welterweight divisions.
