Sources close to the situation have informed Boxingtalk.com that Don King and Shelly Finkel are working on a Fernando Vargas-Ricardo Mayorga HBO PPV in March or April. No date has been solidified as this goes to print, but evidently a deal is very close to being reached.

G. Leon is a very credible source in the boxing game so hopefully this will be made. While neither one has nothing to really gain but a paycheck fighting each other, it could be exciting while it lasts. Vargas on one end has lost by TKO in all the matches he's lost and is known to have a fragile chin, while possessing the better boxing skills in comparison to Mayorga. On the other end Mayorga has shown to take a fuckload of punishment before being put away, while just being an outright brawler with limited skills and a big punch. How does the boxing fans see this going down?

In the same article it mentions the Kermit Cintron-Shane Mosley is on for Feb.10.

Pretty much, and as much as I think it could be an exciting fight in no way should it be on PPV. But you know damn well the shit talking between both those fools will lead to a decent amount of PPV buys.

Fuck that shit bein on PPV, its Shotime @ best.. shit maybe even a good FoxSports fight. These cats wont impact the best of the best. No one gonna order that shit so theyll learn. Mosley aint the sugar man more like that sugar substitute. Varagas been on the decline since DLH whooped him like a bitch. Cintron is tryn to rebound, and o yeah Mayorga in the same boat as Vargas

nice..looks like cintron gets mosely afterall... hopefully.. thats the thing about boxrec.com they post fights like they are signed before they really are. ( they posted mosely - collazo like it was a done deal on theyre upcoming fight schedule )

I agree with most points, but I don't feel De La Hoya whooped on Vargas. Vargas was smacking him around, but got too careless because of his confidence (arrogance, stupidity, immaturity) and DLH, being the great (intelligent, slick, seasoned) fighter he is, took advantage and KO'd his ass.

Anyways...I'd pay to see it on PPV. Probably $1.99, like the 5 month old movies offered on Direct TV.

my brother is a vargas fan for what i can never understand but i think we'll order it just to laugh you know these dudes are gonna hate eachother in a min. mayorga makes me laugh and i don't like vargas at all so it will be a good fight to laugh at for me.

I have to just add to the thread that Mosley-Cintron is a no-go and that Mosley-Collazo is going to happen Feb. 10. If someone don't make a thread about it in the next few weeks, I'll start one up.
