BIG 12 Football....
Thing about the Big 12, is that they don't really put guys in the NFL (relative to the other BCS conferences). Now that doesn't necessarily translate into inferior college programs (relative to the other BCS conferences), but in this sport where not even close to everybody plays everybody, you never really know, so I do think the sparse NFL talent in that conference does affect the overall quality of play.

Here's a screenshot of some research I did last year, where the database I was working w/ is all players who were on an NFL roster or practice squad in the year 2006. I've made everything pertaining to the Big 12 in bold red so you can see:

The "PPT" stat below is what those conferences are sorted by, and that means "AVG NFL Players per Big 12 Team," that gives you an idea on average, just how much NFL quality talent is on a Big 12 playing field on a given day. Obviously this data is a year old and doesn't include anybody in the Big 12 today, but this stuff doesn't change much year to year.

Cmon Bam, you and I both know that the SEC has the LAMEST OOC of ANY conference....they inflate their records so come conference play, the SEC looks al bold and tough. The SEC is the only conference with ANY 3 loss teams in the BCS/AP rankings....coincidence? I think not.

The SEC plays many Div1-AA teams and lowly Sun Belt teams....there have been very few worthy OOC opponents for the SEC, and when they have this year, they have been OWNED. See Cal/Tenneessee and Bama/FSU.

Name a football loss to a division 2 school.

It hasn't happened.

In basketball, Michigan State lost to Division 2 Grand Valley State. And Ohio State lost to Division 2 Findlay. But a football team in the Big Ten has never lost to a Division 2 school.

And the wannabe big ten conference thing comes from the fact that both have the big name, but also the fact that they really play the same type of football. While SEC and Pac-10 tend to be more of the fast-paced football conferences.

For one, Div II schools dont play Div 1A schools...Div 1-AA however, DO play Div 1A schools...and yes, Minnesota and Michigan have BOTH lost to Div 1AA schools this year.

So no, in football, NO Div 1A school has EVER lost to a Div II school...

SEC a fast paced conference? I dont think so. They play more at a level of the Big 10 in the regards to playing bigtime defense and running the ball.

THe only conference that compares to the Pac-10 play wise would be the WAC.

I'm a Pac-10 fan supporter obviously, but the SEC is the shit. Consistently better than the Pac-10 yes, I'm not claiming it is this year, but on the whole, the SEC is generally the best college football conference. Look at the analysis I posted, the concentration of NFL talent in that conference is ridiculous.
