I just finished listening to the new Quinn for the fifth time straight through. Good cd, but not a classic like his last one. I also realized the best rappers and my favorite rappers can save a weak beat by their lyrics and by the way they ride the beat. It made me realize why Mac Dre was and is my favorite. He took mediocre beats and made them slaps. Nickatina can also do that to a certain extent. The songs on "The Rock" with weak beats or mediocre beats are just decent songs. Even though I feel Quinn is one of the best lyricists in the Bay. Holla back if yadidamean.

most of the songs on The Rock had mediocre beats; when 3/4 of the beats really suck nobody could save the album, no matter how talented and how good lyricist he is

To me .. if the beat is trash... the lyrics can't save it....

i think you can put a mediocre artist on a bangin ass track and it'll make the artist listenable.
you mean like 99% of mainsteam? .
