Off top tho. We all know emitt smith was not even close to as talented a back as the real truth rbs.

I would take roger Craig over e smith. How bout that 1K rec. yards and 1K rush yards in one season tho. What chall kno bout it?

what you know about Craig fumbling two plays in a row against the giants, goin for the three peat...i was there.

Roger Craig was a decent back who had one spectacular year and a couple good ones... he wasnt better than ricky watters, he dont touch emmitt smith, but fuck the cowboys...

Curtis Martin has more yards, touchdowns and as many or more pro bowl selections than everyone out of the ones you listed, this is the second back in the history of football to run for 1,000 yds every season fo his first ten seasons!!!! your trippin somethin fierce
he had more years then some of those guys over the course of his entire career, that doesn't mean he was a better RB than they were in prime for prime. Again, Emmit Smith has the most rushing yards EVER, that doesn't mean he's the best RB! Just means he had a great offensive line.

All of those guys I listed I would pick over Curtis Martin. All of them. Martin is like a shaun alexander with a couple more moves. Good, dependable, but nothing spectacular.

Its not his fault he was a badass and could sustain his career longer than all those guys?!?! how is that counting agaisnt him, this whole in their prime thing doesnt work at all it should be the body of work not 1-3 good seasons

The thread starter said in the original post "I'm not talkin longevity or any of that, I am just talking who was the best RB of all-time at the height of their game."

With that said, would you seriously pick Curtis Martin over all those guys? A prime Walter Payton, Gayle Sayers, etc etc etc were not as good as Curtis Martin??? C'mon son!

Yea I know Im not dumb enough to argue that Curtis is better than Walter Payton I was just tryna list backs I have seen with my own eyes and I still think that in their prime is stupid people have a couple big ass years and then fall off ie Chris Johnson rushing for a 2,000 yards and like 6 yards per carry two years ago

yeah well some last longer than others no doubt. Gayle Sayers for example only really had 4 complete years cuz he suffered some really bad injuries (only played 7 seasons). But man in those four years he was like no other RB at that time.

If the thread was "who are the top 5 most durable backs" or something like that than yeah, curtis martin would be up there. And that is a great accomplishment in itself, as you know a lot of RB's are pretty much done after 2-4 years or so. So for him doing 1,000+ yards in 10 years or whatever it was that is a great accomplishment.
