Ok, now we've had threads before asking who the best "producers" are...and people list them. Dr. Dre is ALWAYS at the top of the list even though he doesn't do shit in the studio except direct anymore and the excuse always is:

"I LUUUUUV DR. DRE U HATER - U DON'T HAVE TO MAKE UR OWN BEATS 2 BE PRODUSER U CAN JUST SIT THERE WITH CIGAR IN UR MOUTH AND SAY 'I LIKE DAT' - PRODUSER DUZ NOT MEEN THAT U MAKE THE BEATS U DUMASS"

Being a true artist to me always meant you did your OWN music keeping help to a minimum - that showed your expression. Not sitting in the studio telling other people to do their thing and just picking and choosing what's tight.

so who are the top 5 producers of all time that still do the majority of the work in the studio - play most of the keys and arrange most of it with a minimum of co-producers and studio musicians.
Not neccesarily the top 5 producers of all time, but the top 5 BEATMAKERS.

Im pretty damn sure Quik aint the one doing all those flute, saxiphone, piano etc solos in his tracks or the guitars...same goes for Dre...I think Nostril was talking about "producers"/beatmakers who actually compose all their own music..correct me if Im wrong
