@ironlungs, i understand what you're saying...not to take away credit from jordan's supporting cast, because pippen was definitely a great all-around player, and rodman was a rebounding machine...but honestly, as dominant as shaq was, it made kobe's job much easier. it didn't seem as if defenses would game plan for kobe like they could for jordan, because shaq was so dominant and would draw constant double and triple teams.

Kobe is a great player, but he will never be viewed in history as great as Michael Jordan... period.

Personally I think Jobe had more help around him then Jordan, Esp when Shaq was balling with the Lakers.

Jordan embodied more then just a great player, he is far more iconic then jobe bisont

LOL.. hilarious. i hope u realize u are a brainwashed sheep, though. MJ and Kobe were placed in 2 different situations...MJ was handed everything and protected by David Stern, while Kobe had to work his way up and defeat the odds, with David Stern working against him. Kobe winning rings with Gasol as a second fiddle is WAY more impressive than MJ winning rings with Pippen as a second fiddle. Pippen, on his own, took Chicago to the Eastern Semi-Finals after Jordan retired. Lakers minus Kobe wouldnt even make the playoffs. in his prime, Pippen was considered the 2nd best player in the NBA behind Jordan. not to mention, Jordan never faced a defense like the 2009 Celtics in the Finals...Utah Jazz, Seattle Sonics? lmao...come on, now. At the end of the day, its hard to compare players when they come from different eras and are placed in completely different situations. but if Kobe ends his career with 6 or more rings, nothing will hold him out of GOAT talks. NOTHING. let the media tell u otherwise, but from a basketball purists stand-point, watching both players will tell u that they have the same ability. biggest difference is that Kobe=more range. When Kobes career is over, we can resume this discussion.

lol at you 90's babies not remembering what basketball was like in the 80's. there's a reason jordan didn't win shit in the 80's, the competition was much better. lakers, celtics, pistons. you weren't fuckin' with them in the 80's.

magic is the GOAT. played all 5 positions on the court at an all star level. led his team to a championship as a rookie. what did jordan do his rookie year?

^yea, these lil kids are just going with the general consensus...Magic is the GOAT in my opinion, as well...i say that if Kobe wins 2 more rings by the end of his career, he will be in serious discussion as the GOAT. but there\'s no one like Magic.

players have been able to emulate what jordan did. you don't see anybody emulating magic though, cause they can't. his court vision and feel for the game are still unmatched to this day.
