Benzino almost made some good (and interesting) points in that article. He loses any credibility from me (my opinion) however, for the following. In the article he goes on about how "everyone" is buying Eminem and not other hip hop artists. He says there are a lot of other artists going un-noticed (like him) because everyone wants to buy the white guy's cd instead of black artists.
I may be wrong, but I could've sworn that a lot of other rap and r&b artists (who are black) went gold and platinum last year.

Benzino has been around for a long time. His previous releases weren't all bad, but they obviously weren't that noticeable. The beats and rhymes were just ok. He's been putting records out long before Eminem ever came thru, but he's steadily hollering that fans aren't buying other rappers (meaning him) because they ONLY buy Eminems cd's. He wasn't selling many units before and he's still not going to, unless he steps it up and puts out something people want to listen to (my opinion).

I don't know if anyone remembers this but Benzino and his people wanted to jump Marky Mark (Wahlberg) and his fuckin' bunch for wearing the same Boston hockey jerseys as they did on a performance on Arsenio Hall. It was supposedly some kind of gang thing. Mark was from Boston and was supposed to know better. LOL

good point. you could also argue that, were his record sales
any good he wouldn't be bitching about all this. &, before he
started kicking up dust in all this, what if eminem wanted benz
to spit a verse with him? think he would've said no?

Benzino is full of shit. Talking about the underground when the source doesnt even cover anyone from the west coast unless its "Big" Snoop Dogg or Xzibit. Yet The Source has plenty of pages to fill with fashion and car stereos.

Give credit to the fans for not falling for that hoopla.I've never heard a Benzino verse in my life,so I won't even comment on him or his abilities.Whether you like it or not,Benzino has done major things for hip-hop.Whether you like the Source or not, that was a great magazine at one time.It was just them and Word Up for eonz, then you had Rap Pages which was pretty brutal. The Source did as much for West Coast Hip-Hop then either of those other two did.Even put Em on a cover if I remember correctly.Don't be so quick to hate, and act childish.

i disagree. rappages was much more for the west
coast than the source was/is/will be. the source is
so much on an east-coast agenda it's obvious. as
for benzino's contribution to hip-hop, besides being
a silent partner in the source, what? his 5-year,
6-page spread-per-issue campaign for made men?
single-handedly the most expensive ad campaign
with the smallest return for it's money? he may
contribute something if he can put more control
of the music in the hands of the people that make
it by raising these issues, but i doubt it.

lets put it this way, im here in the great northwest with me n my young homiez, we're ignorant, we abuse drugs, we're average, and we all listen to rap and some hip-hop. Now, to make a point, THE ONLY REASON I CAN ASSOCIATE THE NAME BENZINO WITH THE PERSON BENZINO IS BECAUSE HE TRIED TO CHALLENGE EMINEM, WHO WAS ALREADY PROMINENTLY AND REPEATEDLY SHOWN ALL OVER TV AND THE RADIO. I DISLIKE TV AND RADIO MUSIC AND LOVE THE UNDERGROUND, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO MAINSTREAM MEDIA (IM NOT A FUCCIN HERMIT). THE ONLY REASON I KNOW WHO BENZINO IS, IS BECAUSE I ALREADY KNEW WHO EMINEM IS. I APOLOGIZE IF I DIDN'T MAKE A POINT, OR ANY SENSE, AS I HAVEN'T SMOKED ANY WEED TODAY AND MY BRAINS KINDA FOGGY.

your point was clear: benzino wouldn't even
be on the hip-hop radar if he hadn't dissed
eminem. which just might be what this whole
thing is really about: promotions....
