first off he left for 3 mill more a year. the bulls gave him 60 mill for 4 yrs. and the pistons offered 48 mill for 4 yrs. second off you sound hurt as fuck.
Yeah, it sucks, but he's going downhill, there's no denying that.
And it was originally reported as 52 million over 4 years., which is only a million more.. But, do you think a 32 year old Ben Wallace, a guy who relys on jumping ability more than any other guy in the league, who is losing his ability to jump due to his age, is worth 15 million a year?
It'll help them out over the next two years, but the bulls will be crippled after that. Gordon is gonna want big money. They'll get rid of chandler and have the PJ Brown expiring contract, so they may be able to get some free agent off of that, but they may just have to use that money to pay Ben Gordon. I think they'll probably let Hinrich go, not positive about that, but he may cost more money than they are willing to pay, as well.
But it will help them out.
Pistons signed Nazr, and no question, he's a downgrade. At least he can hit a fucking freethrow, and won't shoot less than 25 percent in the playoffs.
Ben killed us in the playoffs and a lot of people around here didn't want him back no matter what.
But, I wanted him back, but he's not a 15 million dollar a year player. He can't play offense at all. He cripples your team to the point where its 4 on 5. If he does get the ball near the hoop, they just have to foul him. He won't hit the freethrows, and his defense is sorta overrated, and I'd tell you that before he left. He's a good help defender, but he only is good if he has another good defender downlow with him.
His first two DPOY award years it was Cliff Robinson.. Once Cliff left, people saw that he wasn't that good.. Then, we got Rasheed, and Rasheed covered a lot of Ben's defensive weaknesses.
But no doubt he's the best help defender in the league, and one of the best shot blockers.. His rebounding ability is going downhill, but he'll still get you 11 a game... But, I'm not sure if all that's worth 15 million a year.
If I was Joe, I'd have a hard time paying Ben Wallace, a guy past his prime 15 million, which would effectively cripple our frachise. And we have to resign Billups next year, who is more important to the team, and actually still improving.
I do wish we would've kept Darko though.. He would've probably actually got playing time this year.. But we will be getting Orlando's lottery pick next year, so I guess that's alright.
Darko actually did pretty good for Orlando at the end of last season...
