I am almost done watching this 11 part series about all aspect of the planet earth, from oceans to deserts and everything in between. It sheds light on how much of certain land masses or envirments take up what percentage of the world and the animals that survive them and even thrive in. The "Americanized" one has Sigorney Weaver narrating it, but the original has David Attenborough doing the voicing.

Some of the things that they did editing wise and some things they caught on video are extraordinary to say the least, including the rarest big cat in the world (Amur leopard) at a mere 40 left in the wild.

THe shots they show from space down to earth are simply amazing.

To top it all off, it was shot almost entirely in HD....

DId you see it via Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? I had to DL it and it took nearly 12 days (the file was 49 GBs!). I got it in .mkv form which appearntly is one of the best for HD formatted shit. I wanna see the actual disks, though.

I was addicted to this fucking series when it first aired on Discovery HD. For those of you who thinks its just another "nature show", its NOT! It's so much more!

The slow-mo footage they had of the great white shark in the air, snagging a seal were amazing! And the crocodile pulling in the wilder beast into the river..

What makes you think it was CG? They didn't use CG in any of the other shows.

Think about it....how are they going to show footage of the underwater submersible and it navigating the underground mountain range from an outside perspective? They probably only have 1 of those crafts they are multi-million dollar projects. And plus, its too dark down there to have the scene that illuminated from how zoomed out they were...Theres definitely those parts that are CG and there are others if you watch for them. My friend is a digital animator he pointed it out to me.

EDIT: and they do use CG on the other ones, they use it to zoom inside the coral and show how coral works. The rest of the time they dont use it because they arent so deep underwater that almost no light reaches there. But they do use it for the "Coral Seas" one
