I used to dig the Bay Area sound and listened alot to it in the early and mid 90's, with favorite artists like Too Short & Spice 1 and producers like E-A-Ski. Today I'm a club DJ and lately I've been re-discovering the Bay Area and the sounds of today. I'm really feelin' some of the tracks coming out of the Bay, but I really have one huge problem. I live in Europe... The distribution of hip hop 12" records from the west is truly poor (records from the south and NY are every where), and records from the Bay are never seen. Does anybody know any online website (not eBay), preferably from CA, that sell and stock Bay Area vinyls?

Hope someone can help me out...

Kind Regards,
Big Daddy Binge, Sweden

eBay is no good for this since it's overpriced and not all reach there. The B-Side record-shop was nice, but it does not stock that many Bay Area records (38 atm). I'll probably place an order with them soon though, so thanks! :) Anybody got other suggestions?

Ever consider switchin over to CDs? It's alot more convenient. Not to mention the availablity of tracks you can get on CD rather than vinyl. Instead of breakin your back carrying 3 heavy ass crates, just carry a CD book in a backpack.

Where's the fun in "spinning" CDs? Yes, it'd be easier/cheaper/less heavy - but that's not all there's to it.

None of the shops you visit advertise their website on logos, receipts, flyers, plastic bags or anything?

Truthfully..I haven't done anything with CDJ's that I couldn't do with turns. As far as blends and scratches and what not. I think it just takes a matter of getting used to the feel of it. Don't get me wrong I still love the feel of vinyl, so I keep a set of 1200's around to play wit. but you said it yourself...Your a club DJ...So it ain't like you tryna go do a gig and battle everyone.

But as far as music AVAILABILTY wise. Im with CDJs...My backs taken a beating over the years. I did a club out here in San Jose several times and to get to the DJ booth on the 2nd floor, you had to climb up this laddder like you was climbing up to get in a treehouse..And having to go up and down that ladder 3-4 times to carry 75 pound anvils full of records irritated the shit outta me...
