ANAHEIM -- Police shot to death a man who had been pulled over for a traffic stop at a 7-Eleven parking lot in Anaheim early Thursday morning.

The man's compact was pulled over by Anaheim police in the parking lot of the convenience store at Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue shortly after 12:10 a.m., said Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez. The reason for the traffic stop was not immediately released.

Roughly 12 minutes later, an officer-involved shooting occurred, Martinez said. His vehicle appeared to have been riddled with bullets, a camera crew reported.

The man was declared dead shortly after arriving at UC Irvine Medical Center, Martinez said. His name was withheld pending notification of the family.

Martinez said what triggered the shooting was under investigation.

"We believe he was armed with a handgun," Martinez said, adding that the weapon was recovered "either in, or near the vehicle."

Martinez said it was not immediately known whether the man fired the weapon at police, but no officers were hurt.

Anaheim police detectives and Orange County District Attorney investigators were summoned to the scene to investigate the shooting.

12 MINUTES WHERE KNOW ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED... POLICE ARE STARTIN TO THINK THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY PLEASE... WATCH YOUR HIDES, PEOPLE...

Please believe the people rioting don't give 2 shits about Oscar just like the people in the Rodney King riots coulda cared less about him....They were out to start shit and GET free shit from looting...Go ahead and justify it with your moronic excuses
That's pretty damn stupid to say the Rodney King riots were all about people starting shit and trying to get free shit. Yeah the people didn't know Rodney King, but to imply the riots were not a result of years of oppression, police brutality and injustice is just plain ignorant mark.

Further, protests, riots, violence, etc. are the only ways the people in this country (and most of the rest of the world) can truly demand any real change. Sitting at home and doing nothing will get you nothing. Gathering around peacefully in free speech zones will get you nothing.

And yeah, people are soft. We need MORE riots.

And it's necessary to hurt and destroy the property of innocent people who had nothing to do with the shooting?

how would you feel if yoir car was destroyed... or if you invested all your time and money into a retaurant or shop that was destroyed???

would you feel the same way? i doubt it...

Most of the time it is necessary. I mean, give me an example of riots across the world where damage did not take place. When they are rioting in Greece or Italy or France, etc., you think they just tear up newspapers? No they fuck the city up! Why? People they are pissed off they are demanding change not asking and what other way do the people have to get their message across? Riots, that's it pretty much it.

Now riots are only part of it though. The people must be much more organized. There needs to be city wide strikes to hit the city where it hurts them the most (economically). They need to shut down the transit system,e etc. And thats the real problem with whats going on here is there is no organization, no where for the people to turn to and take that anger and continue to direct it to good use. Riots aren't the problem. It's lack of organization, lack of leadership and a lack of understanding.

Boooooooo!

This case has garnered national attention so it's time for part time radicals to capitalize and push their agendas

So we're at a 1:1 ratio - Cop murder to protest/riots

So at the end of the year, the ratio of black on black murders to protest/riots in Oakland will be... ?

where were you like 6 pages ago when I was trying to make some of the same points?
Folks will sit up here make and support music that glorifies violence but when people react violently to police brutality its a problem. Some cars got fucked up and some windows got smashed , thats why there is insurance. It is pale in comparison to what these youth go through.

I wonder if any one would even care if the dude had been white?
yes people would care because the police are supposed to protect and serve. not kill an unarmed man being pinned down to the ground, like i said in the other thread, it could happen to any person of any race.
