no offense but... how does your argument make any sense?

is it a good idea for people to go out there and reinforce stereotypes upon themselves? destroy business in the area... yeah great idea in this already fucked up economy... what did these businesses do wrong?

come on... it's important to get national coverage... if these riots start gettin national coverage people are gonna start taking the police officer's side more

and if the family apparently asked people to keep it peaceful... how the fuck can you argue that would not be the right thing to do???

shit makes no damn sense...
The quote which you used is not in refernce to what went on tonight but a disagreement over the power of protest historically im having with a wolf.

I read what you said, maybe you should have worded it better. Look i am not advocating whats going on now but disagreeing with you about the power in organization of people violent or non- violent. This was not a walk in remembrance of him, Im sorry but it is the reaction of people against the misconduct of police and the handling of this case. I come from a long line of radicals so you most likely will never agree with me. We are a dying breed.

"I just got done saying that a protest will not solve anything but if you're gonna protest then make it peaceful. Martin Luther King led peaceful protests and we elected Barack Obama president 45 years later. Does it work? Maybe not but neither does this." AWOLF

I see where you misunderstood what I said..What I meant was, does the peaceful protest always work? Maybe not. I respect and admire MLK and I think that what he did to bring change to this Country is a wonderful thing and in his case, the PEACEFUL protest worked. As far as you coming from a long line of radicals, I think that is great. Standing up for what you believe in is a great thing. We can agree to disagree on how to do that. Nothing wrong with that.

Peace to the Board!

Absolutely NOTHING positive is going to come out of a bunch of fucking jackasse taunting the police.

I am all for a peaceful demonstration. Hell, I organized a demonstration in November to let our voices be heard about the injustice of a child being denied survivor benefits by a company where his mother was brutally murdered. We had news coverage, the demonstration was small and went off without a hitch, and guess what, the company stepped up and gave the child $125,000. No cars overturned, no dumpsters set on fire. No one dancing and playing like it was the thing to do.

Protests, demonstrations can work, if planned, organized and have a specific solution presented.

What is happening in Oakland right now is a disgrace to Mr. Grant's memory. I bet his mom is watching the news right now feeling even worse than she already did. You all saw the relative on the news BEGGING for people to keep it peaceful, and the family's wishes were completely disregarded.

This has become bigger than Oscar Grant. This is about a bunch of idiots doing something just to do it, with no goal or purpose.

I hope you guys are all real fucking proud of yourselves.

oh yeah, and the shit in Greece a) didnt accomplish shit, and b) was all in vain because at the end of the day, footage proved that the police DID NOT shoot the kid. Real bad example.

some people should maybe stick to gossipin about who got coochie bit and what rappers chain got snatched today, and leave the politics and humanitarianism to people who actually get it.
Let me first say my career is in public policy and education and there really is no need to get caddy and disrespectful. So please please please dont even suggest what I am qualified to speak on because Ive done my time in the academic world.

No one is saying what happend tonight is right or could not have been better planned . If you read through the thread you see what I am talking about with A wolf is a disagreement on something he said about the results of protests historically.

But honestly with that being said you dont have to like what happened tonight but best believe it puts some fire under the feet of officials.

No doubt! Conversation and debate opens up new ideas and thought processes. Nothing I said was a personal shot just disagreement; I have respect for you.

That just solidifies the point that for most of the assholes out there, it isn't about the innocent man who lost his life, the mother who lost her son, the daughter who lost her father. Its not about supporting a cause.
this is true - i just watched the news it seems like people just want to take their frustrations out on the cops - i saw some people just on top of cars like heyyyyyy like it was fun or something others just mad taunting the cops. if u really knew the man and his family you wouldnt be out there acting a fool like that out of respect for him. you might be looking for that cop though

and as far as the bay being soft - nah never thatn but i doubt people was gonna run up on them cops at the scene. the guy had just killed a man in cold blood who gonna run up really? do you want to die? nobody could even believe it

also i just realized im sure this is the image the news wants to potray - just the bad shit goin on im sure theres something good going on too that were not seeing you know how the media is

I've read this whole thread and have come to the conclusion that you have no idea what your talking about. A wolf's post have been on point. YOUR posts in response have been caddy and disrespectful.

The only thing I'm protesting right now are your posts.

I'm outraged and been a victim of police brutality in the past, but I will not go out there and act a fool. Breaking car windows, looting businesses, burning down cars, etc....IT'S NOT THE WAY TO BE HEARD...
