Absolutely NOTHING positive is going to come out of a bunch of fucking jackasse taunting the police.

I am all for a peaceful demonstration. Hell, I organized a demonstration in November to let our voices be heard about the injustice of a child being denied survivor benefits by a company where his mother was brutally murdered. We had news coverage, the demonstration was small and went off without a hitch, and guess what, the company stepped up and gave the child $125,000. No cars overturned, no dumpsters set on fire. No one dancing and playing like it was the thing to do.

Protests, demonstrations can work, if planned, organized and have a specific solution presented.

What is happening in Oakland right now is a disgrace to Mr. Grant's memory. I bet his mom is watching the news right now feeling even worse than she already did. You all saw the relative on the news BEGGING for people to keep it peaceful, and the family's wishes were completely disregarded.

This has become bigger than Oscar Grant. This is about a bunch of idiots doing something just to do it, with no goal or purpose.

I hope you guys are all real fucking proud of yourselves.

oh yeah, and the shit in Greece a) didnt accomplish shit, and b) was all in vain because at the end of the day, footage proved that the police DID NOT shoot the kid. Real bad example.

some people should maybe stick to gossipin about who got coochie bit and what rappers chain got snatched today, and leave the politics and humanitarianism to people who actually get it.

I KNOW I AINT TRYIN TO GO HEAR A RAP/ SPOKEN WORD CONCERT WIT CELEBRITY SPEAKERS EAT SUM BBQ LOL FUCK THAT, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN UR ASS WE TALKIN ABOUT "WHY THEY KILL AWOLF LIKE THAT, THAT COP DID HIS ASS DIRTY"
Come on now..Tookie was a convicted murderer on Deathrow....HUGE DIFFERENCE between over turning a verdict and bringing actual justice to a murderer. Im not talking about a spoken word concert or a concert at all..Im talking about bringing world wide coverage to this event without taking the focus off the actual event. I just watched 2 hours of news about a riot/protest where nothing was mentioned about the actual shooting. So what was accomplished? Lets all go hug trees and hope that brings justice....

didnt help, read a little more.

Me? read more? Ive been told to read less. There has been growing descent amongst greeks directed at their socialist government for a while now. The shooting of the young man at point blank range was the needle that broke the camels back. Change does not happen immediately but change in how greece protects their own people will come.

And Awolf, MLK was not protesting for a Black President but basic human rights for blacks so I do not know how you can discredit his work.

Did you just get through saying that even if a protest ends in a riot and violence that it will still result in policy change? U serious? Well in that case then killing this innocent man will also result in policy change. So maybe we should also encourage other police to shoot and kill innocent men so we can change policy. Look I agree with some shit you said and its all good when done in a peaceful manner. Civil rights protests were organized, not violent. MLK was not gettin Hyphy and shakin his dreds for the channel 4 news.
Your argument makes little sense. Please do some research on riots and protests in American history because what I used was historical fact.

yeah all thats being talked about is the riot, the violence, and the tension between the people and the police. how can we expect outsiders to understand what is going on and want to get involved or do anything about the situation if this is how we popularize it? world wide coverage is really what this needs. of what happened to Grant, not of a riot.

Discredit his work?? At what point did I discredit his work? Read what I wrote a few times. The comment I made was in regards to PEACEFUL PROTESTING AND THE CHANGES THAT ORGANIZED PEACEFUL PROTESTS CAN MAKE. I think MLK is the best example and President Obama being able to run for president was a result of MLK's accomplishment.

I don't consider this a riot even with a couple of windows broken and a car on blaze. There has been plenty of coverage of the murder and has been in the national media for the past couple of days. BART needs to take control of this...if they're able to. They haven't shown the ability so far. They look just as confused as most of us on this issue.

no offense but... how does your argument make any sense?

is it a good idea for people to go out there and reinforce stereotypes upon themselves? destroy business in the area... yeah great idea in this already fucked up economy... what did these businesses do wrong?

come on... it's important to get national coverage... if these riots start gettin national coverage people are gonna start taking the police officer's side more

and if the family apparently asked people to keep it peaceful... how the fuck can you argue that would not be the right thing to do???

shit makes no damn sense...

That just solidifies the point that for most of the assholes out there, it isn't about the innocent man who lost his life, the mother who lost her son, the daughter who lost her father. Its not about supporting a cause.

I just got done saying that a protest will not solve anything but if you're gonna protest then make it peaceful. Martin Luther King led peaceful protests and we elected Barack Obama president 45 years later. Does it work?
I read what you said, maybe you should have worded it better. Look i am not advocating whats going on now but disagreeing with you about the power in organization of people violent or non- violent. This was not a walk in remembrance of him, Im sorry but it is the reaction of people against the misconduct of police and the handling of this case. I come from a long line of radicals so you most likely will never agree with me. We are a dying breed.
