wtf? so hip hop is called backpack rap now? off top all them zion-i, souls of mischief, heiro, living legends, dj shadow, jurassic 5, alkoholics, the grouch, aceyalone, digable planets, etc. is some HIP HOP RAPPERS!!!! a type of rap that uses big sophisticated words with lyrics that are always positive and contains some kinda subliminal message. yet sometimes they don't even rap, they spit poetry and blend in some scratching and all that. bottom line is, them rappers live in fantasy like they some modern day hippies and oreo's, black on the outside but white in the inside. mane ya'll really ain't even knowin. but either way, that ain't my scene and i only mess wid that treal gangsta shit out the bay

lol @ oreo's. so now black educated rappers are oreo's? you are either racist, or soundin real dumb for your race.

gangsta shit ain't all hip-hop, only certain aspects of it is.

and why do y'all think they call these "backpack" artsit "hip-hoppers?" because thats what they do and live for. they have hella love for the culture while most mainstream rappers put a bad image on it by throwin hip-hop around. when a gangsta rapper talks and mentions hip-hop rap, they talk about the rap these "backpack" rappers do. check yuk on beef 3, he even says it

"Backpack rap" is rap wherein rappers pretend like they have enough insight and background to comment on politics. The only people who listen to it are white teenagers who are impressed by loud black men and rhetoric.

[Chorus]
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go, go
Uh, on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy, now
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go, go
And on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy, now

[Common]
(Go) She was a bad (uh), the type at the club niggaz would grab her
(Go) Fantasized when I had her, in the bathroom sweatin' with her ass up
(Go) The body of a dancer, we had chemistry cuz she was a Cancer
Thought forever it would last for, but forever move faster, so I had to
(Go) Still I gotta pause when I think about her in dem draws
(Go) And a ooh baby she liked it raw and like rain when she came it poured
(Go) And like a car that I can't afford I would want it then want some more
The positions our frames explored let me know she was secure, back for more I wanna

[Chorus]
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go, go
Uh, on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy, now
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go and on the count of three
(Go) go, go, go, go, go, go
And on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy, now
Those are some deep, sophisticated lyrics.

The Bay has many sick "backpack" rappers, i'd call them more like "Lycists" or "MC's" though. Souls/Hiero, Crown City, some may say Saafir is a backpack rapper, Hobo Junction, Blackalicious, Living Legends and most of them cats they feature on that local bay music show on WB 12am on sundays, Distortion 2 static.

yep

and u would be ignorant to think they don't kno how to spell it

NWA sayin FUCK THE POLICE is no different then Public Enemy sayin fight the power. Two different perspectives from different minds in HIP-HOP but both come from a ghetto mindstate. You need to stop tryin to box "real' Hip-Hop into one type of subject/sound.Or better yet stop tryin to say whats real and whats not. That shit is ignorant and no different then the people that only listen to and praise "gangsta" rap saying thats the only real shit out.No matter what the subject matter, everything bein spit/rhymed over a beat equals RAP,just one of the elements in Hip-Hop(mc'n)and there should be no category for each type cuz at the end of the day its all RAP.Hip-Hop is freedom of expression through the four elements which make up what we know now AS Hip-Hop so who are you to say how they should express it? that aint Hip-Hop.I know what your gettin at but you got folks spittin gangsta shit thats up on old skool game but you prolly wouldnt know it cuz thats not what they choose to speak on.They choose to speak on shit from they own perspective and this dont just apply to gangsta rap but any other kind you dont consider "real" Hip-Hop.I know for a fact Mac Dre was really up on old skool shit,he'd say lil lines here and there that would let you know how much he loved Hip-Hop from gangsta to some old ass Kool Moe Dee.But you'd prolly say he aint "real" Hip-Hop either?
