Hahahahahahahahahahaha

I can't believe this. Hahahahaha

THE BAY IS BACK
NOPE WRONG

The bay will never be back until muhfuckas support each other instead of hating and tryna out do each other and doing sneaky shit. imma use this AP situation for example alot of yall really is hating on him and thats not gonna bring no bay back. u suppose to support your own before the rest of the world does. why do u think the south is kicking that ass and been dominating rap the last 10 plus years bc they support they own and show recognition. Real talk.

the bay never went anywhere, and niether did cali

when people realize that a entire coast dosent just fucking dissapear because some snooty fags on the internet tell you its dissapeared, the west will be back to wherever the fuck yall want it to be

thats what people (haters) on the internet want you to believe to keep you at low overhead

it amazes me how many people fall for internet trickery
trust me, people are up on the west

and not just the lil b's and odd futures
theres someone right now, on youtube watching some shit from the bay you think gets no shine. and he or she thinks thats tight.

the opinion of rap music has finally streched farther than the source magazine or xxl. id embrace that fact and welcome yourself to 2011

it getting hella tired people always w/the "we need to get together," we need to "stop hating" and "unite."

a great artist make some shit where 8/10 people would tell someone "shut the fuck up w/that shit that shit blap" if they heard someone talking shit on them. that's not people just supporting blindly anything that come from their region and "uniting", it come from artists making shit that you can't front on.

the bay and its artists would be best served if the artists just went in they own lab w/they own people and made the best music they could possibly make. if the music was coo and the artist was coo, they'd emerge w/some shit that NO ONE could sound intelligent saying negative shit about. that's like the lane you see artists like livewire camp and a-wax working themself toward and i respect the fuck out of it.

What artists need to do is exactly the opposite of whatever others are doing. Nobody other than maybe a few are really eating off of the music business, kibbles and bits do not count as eating. A prime example, and I hate even saying this, is Lil B. While others are busy worrying about what others think, he is saying "think what you want, I'm Gay!" I wouldn't support it but the proof is in the pudding. Quit copying the stagnant....

It's not internet trickery at all. I've lived all over the place and seen what they listen to and why. I've talked to people at length about their choices in music and why they like it. The west has fallen off HARD in terms of quality.

Killa Tay touched on it with one of his posts. There isn't the money surrounding northern cali rap anymore that there used to be. His Snake Eyes project had like $400k or something like that to get production together, mastering etc... now it's like a 10th or less than that. That's reflective of nearly every bay artist you like that's active now that was active in the mid-90's and all these new cats too.

There were legends in the bay but they've been doing the same thing for years now and it's not fresh. These new cats aren't bringin heat to me like the older generation. The bay has fallen off hard. There's still artists I like and listen to, but it no way compares to what it was in the mid 90's through about 2004

no disrespect to tay and artists like him in that situation (basically every artist), but he (or anyone) would have money behind their projects if there were recoupable demand surrounding them.

nobody with money's gonna be like, "oh, here you go artist take this money i'm never going to see again."

which means, get in the lab, put a plan together, make good music and build a demand. it has nothing to do with uniting or creating a scene. the money's there, you have to get that shit up out of people.

you don't NEED $400k to make a classic in 2011.

you need a $10,000k plan and $1,000,000 bars.
The 10k plan, and a realistic one at that, is what is lacking for most. That
10k investment has to be just that, an investment. That money should not be money expected back anytime soon. That 10k should turn into 20k and so forth. Keep investing that original 10k and see where it can go. Most will spend $1,000 on some cds, $500 hundred on posters and flyers, have some bullshit engineer mix and master their shit and wala, a product ready for sale. Put it on the shelves and spend the rest on a chain, the bars and some other shit that does not help move product. It is the overall business sense lacking, imo.

you're right. there's such a void of business sense in the rap game.

it takes business sense to realize there's no market for your music and you should quit. it also takes business sense to accurately assess the space you occupy in the industry and how to make the most out of it to generate revenue.

audience interest and momentum is fleeting and difficult as fuck to gain in the first place - if not impossible for most people. that's why so many rappers fall the fuck off because even if you are ever on, people stop checking for you as soon as you don't mesh with what their idea of cool is - and that shit changes with the season.

In a sense, the independent hustle mentality of the bay area that helped it flourish is what also helped hurt the rap business in the bay. Instead of trying to put out the highest quality project with hopes of getting signed by a major, artists were content to put together the best project they could afford and hope for the best but the difference in quality is evident. You have to be an extraordinary talent to get by doing this like JT The Bigga Figga or Mac Dre to make this work. they already have fan bases though. You have to believe in your project enough to invest in it and hustle hard to get the respect, and a lot of artists aren't doin that nowadays.
