Here in Arizona, yeah the gun laws are almost nonexistent but one of them is that if you are involved in any domestic issue or if your mental health is in question they are supposed to do psych evaluations and take away your right to own firearms, etc. The problem is that they never follow through with these type of investigations.
Last year, my psycho brother had three issues where cops were involved. The first was when he tried to shoot himself with his sks and his lady pushed him out of the way. Cops were called by neighbors and all they did was interview a few people then left. The second issue he tried to kill me by choking me out. At that time he was into tweaking so I had no choice to stab him to get him off my neck. It was me that made the call for an ambulance, then I was arrested. Neither me or him were asked about any firearms in my house, then when I was bonded out of the county where they say you can't have any weapons all they did was take my word for it. The third thing he did was beat the shit out of his pregnant girlfriend, got a slap on the wrist for that one too. He continues to buy guns legally, with background check and everything. Oh yeah, areolas bro!

Regardless of whether or not it's a popular opinion on here, we DO need tougher gun laws in some areas. That's a fact. There's a difference between government using one incident to blow things out of proportion and take away everybody's guns, as opposed to government continuing a ho-hum attitude while multiple incidences of guns in the hands of the disturbed continue to claim more lives. Fuck the liberals who keep shouting for tougher gun laws but don't do anything constructive to lead us in that direction, and fuck the conservatives who continue to make light of the issue and spread hateful vitriol designed to instigate their base. There needs to be a happy medium, and there hasn't been. That's the problem.
I think what's more important is how mental health ties into gun ownership. I gave some of my stories to show where my concern lies. Yes, I feel something needs to be done, but differently than how Washington feels. The issues that I see being addressed are oblivious to the the actual problems. You usually see the government worrying about hi-cap magazines, short barrels, importation issues, pistol grips and all that but what have they done about preventing these nutcases from getting guns legally? Yeah, they could go to the projects and get armed up, but honestly with situations that make the press like this the shooters look like squares that wouldn't know shit about getting a throwaway. How many times have we in the past few years hear about someone that went postal buy a gun from a gunshop without having there history show up on the background check.
