Malika Madremana from Oakland, she tight as hell.I seen her perform at Dreadstock last year in Vallejo.I'd like to get her on a track and she's still pretty new.She puts on a good live show and speaks on alot of real shit. She had a song called "check face" that was tight, she's a teacher iin I think EPA or Oakland so she said thats where she got the name of the song from.

Anyone ever seen that film with Beenie Man called 'Gangstas Paradise'

If you have, the crazy bastard, Shotta, I think his name was.. That's Ras Kidus. He's from somewhere in the 415. He's been a reggae recording artist since the 70's. Got some sick roots shit as well as new dancehall riddims.

went to see him the other week, in my city. It was surreal. Watchin him perform Wa Do Dem & Ganja Smuggling was surreal. Best ever live performance imo, especially when I never thought I'd get to see him live in my life.

man I know what you mean. After listening to these artists so much since a kid,its hella tight seeing them live.I seen Gregory Isaacs bout 3 weeks ago and that shit was tight as hell. Also seen Barrington Levy when he was in Vallejo, shit was hella tight too.But seeing Gregory,a legend in the game,it was good to see.

I think the bay has a small Hawaiian Raggae scene. I think i've seen a few Samoan cats on myspace doing they thing. They cool folks who are down for their culture, so expect to see something different if you see them.

They make DOPE HIPHOP-REGGAE

They rocked it at Dreadstock last year. Maximum Respect

And to those who don't like reggae... is it because you can't understand what they're saying? I don't get how you couldn't like reggae. Not even Bob Marley??

RANKIN SCROO
I copped his own CD a while back and was disappointed, he okay on all them Sickwidit cuts but really he ain't that skilled as far as reggae is concerned.

I know this BART but if you're going to listen to dancehall or reggae you may as well look to where that sound come from, Rankin Scroo ain't really that skilled.

He's kinda old school and his flow is real basic, he don't really got skills like some of these new cats got. Dudes like Vybz Kartel and are hyped.

Really I can only listen to it for a minute before I get bored but some of it is sick, a lot of the dancehall ish is hella hyped on beats like 110-120 BPM.

I think cats would feel some of that alongside Hyphy. Shit is heavy round here, its all they play 80% of the time on the pirate radio stations and its big at any function.

Ras Kidus

but non bay.. Fantan Mojah, Richie Spice, Chuck Fender, Jah Cure.. shit.. goes on..
Can't forget my boy Blackout out of Bristol, dude tears it up on any beat. You listen to Silverstar's live mixes on 1xtra each week? Really that's all I can listen to, them cats way too funny and play only the most hyped dancehall in the mix.
