I'm heading over to San Diego tonight and I'm going apartment hunting. My budget is is about $850 max for rent. I was contemplating on apartments w/utilities paid for. Are utilities paid for such as water, sewage and trash that important? How much do you apartment tenants pay for water, sewage, trash, gas and electricity? I was contemplating on whether to get an apt. for $850 (1 bed/ok place) including water, sewage and trash paid for. Or $775 (studio, nice place) and I have to pay my own utilities. Need idears for how much bills will cost me.

pg&e should be under $50 for you....if you get the low income svc its only like $20-30....

not sure bout trash, never had to pay it....water depends on ya use really...under $50-75 though i would imagine....most apt's come w free water...some dont

you gotta think about DSL svc, directtv or comcast cable ...phone bill...netflix membership...food ($$$$)...money to fuck off...etc....

good luck to you dogg.....steppin on ya own is risky but rewarding

almost all apartments pay for water/sewage/trash. you just pay for electricity/phone/cable...
$850 for a 1 bedroom? damn, thats hella expensive, i was paying $430, but cali is alot more expensive than oregon. i just moved in with my homie into a 2 bdrm. during the summer its $210 each and after summer its $300 each. they are pretty nice, and all college kids live in them, so they get kinda crackin. also, included in our rent is free basic cable. which is hella cool.

good luck with your search homie

Thanks fellas. I've done hella hunting online for San Diego apartments and it's a bitch as opposed to Sacramento apartments. 3 months ago I was going to go to Sacramento St. so I did online searching there and it was easy to find apartments with the amenities you wanted. BUT in SD maaaan I have to settle for damn near no amenities and for high prices. It's a bitch.

the man speaks the truth. cuz even if you budget everything else out, you always gotta keep these on the brain. My advice: Don't kid yourself into thinking that $100 is enough for food for the month. Every apartment that i've rented (4) required that i make 2 and a half times the rent in income. I used to think it was just to cover their ass but i've found that it's a good scale to live by (or at least make 2 times the rent). that is, if you want to eat something besides ramen every once in a while and have DSL, comcast, phone, etc.
Thanks for the advice but I'm already on top of that. I put everything, all costs into consideration. $400/month for food (this is how much I've been spending w/my GF and we both live at my parent's home), $60/month for gasoline, $40/month for direcTV, $20/month for phone. $$$$ for car repair if it happens which I hope it doesn't. This....will....SUCK.

Fawk I'm moving to Oregon!

Like Bash says in one of his interviews $500k doesn't even get you a crack house nowadays in Cali.
