I feel that, talent wise, the SEC is a very strong conference. I don't know if they're the top conference, but I do believe that the talent level on these teams exceeds that of the Pac-10. The reigning national champions aren't even the best team in the SEC right now, and they didn't really lose many players from that team.
I've never stated my OPINIONS as FACTS. Read my posts. Just as YOU CANNOT prove YOUR OPINION is FACT, because these teams aren't meeting on the field. Again, re-read my posts, and notice the "IMO" in almost every single one of them.
And I've never said that OOC's are a ''moot point''...What I believe is that the SEC team's interconference play is more difficult than, for example, USC's OOC.
And to your point on the ''bottom feeder'' Ole Miss beating the ''top SEC team'' in Florida, and the ''bottom feeder'' OSU beating the ''top tier Pac 10 team'' USC...
Those losses are one in the same. But you're putting words in my mouth. Do you want to know WHY I think the conference sucks compared to the SEC? (And I never said it ''sucked''...just that it's not that good lol). Florida, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Vandy (maybe) are all good, solid teams. I'm not basing this on rankings AT ALL. I watch SEC games every Sat. I'm familiar with these teams. I think the talent level on these teams is pretty impressive. I don't feel that, besides maybe Oregon and maybe Arizona, there's another good team in the Pac-10, besides USC. THAT is why I believe the SEC is better than the Pac-10.
But like I've said from the beginning, it's a matter of OPINION until these teams play each other. I'd love to see USC vs. Georgia, Alabama, Florida, or LSU in the championship game. I wanted that 2 years ago (FLA/USC).
Again, you're trying to prove to me that I'm basing my ''facts'' on nothing but my opinions...but I'm basing my opinions on my opinions. Period.
Fair enough.
However, i can give you evidence, or facts, that the SEC is in fact overrated in at least some factions. Lets take a look at the SEC so far, shall we (these are the top teams in the SEC)?
Alabama's OCC:
They have beaten an EXTREMELY overrated Clemson team, who has since beat Citadel (FCS), a PUTRID NCST team, and another FCS team in SCST. They also lost to a schizophrenic Maryland team.
Conference play:
Alabama then goes on to beat a terrible Arkansas team, and another overrated team in Georgia.
Auburn's OOC:
They whipped a forever bottom feeding Sun Belt UL-Monroe team and then beat a so-so C-USA So Miss team.
Conference play:
From there, they go toe-to-toe with a Miss St team that has sucked for who knows how long and lost to GA Tech AND La Tech (LOL). How the fuck do you only score 3 fuckin points, against Miss St??? LA Tech put up 14 points!!!
Florida's OOC:
They beat a talentless Hawaii team and an offensive struggling Miami team that LOST to a Yates-less UNC team.
Conference play:
From there, they go on to beat up a hapless Tennessee team that LOST to a UCLA team that gave up a combined 126 points in their last 3 games, all loses. They then loss to Ole Miss, who beat a Memphis, WF (who just lost to..drumm roll please..NAVY!!!!), and then did an admirable job against a terrible FCS school.
Ole Miss' OOC:
I just saw what Ole Miss did in OOC, and they have beaten a what looks to be an overrated Florida team, who, like i said, would struggle on defense.
They also loss to Vandy, which has been an infamous SEC bottom feeder for what seems to be 100+ years. Lets take a look at Vandy and see how THEY got to 3-1.
Vandy's OOC:
They beat MAC's 1-3 Miami (OH) and Rice, who just got pounded by Texas.
Conference play:
Beating a offensive-less and, once again, over hyped Gamecock team who has only beat even MORE offense inept NCST, whom only beat Wofford by 10 points (FCS). Vandy also takes out Ole Miss, which I already covered.
Georgia's OOC:
They pounded mighty FCS foe GA So., took out powerhouse MAC opponent C. Michigan, and an ASU team that has been the biggest disappointment in the Pac-10 for the last 4 years.
Conference play:
Although i think SC has a good defense, a Juggernaut pre-season number one team like Georgia should have no problem with them, right? WRONG. They score a scrawny 14 points. They then lose to Alabama.
LSU's OOC:
App St. goes down. Yes, App St, DID beat UM last year, but that was the worst UM team in 30 years, and they look just as bad THIS year, despite beating Wisconsin. The Troy game got postponed, which lead them to beat a long-time shitty ass N. Texas team.
Conference play:
They beat Auburn, but allowed there terrible offense, who could only muster up 3 whole points to Miss St, to score 21 points. They then let that same Miss St team not only stay with them all game, but allow 24 points...at HOME no less.
Kentucky' OOC:
I'm only including them because they are 4-0
They have beat a down Louisville team, FCS' Norfolk St., Middle Tenn St., and FCS-FBS transition school West. Kentucky. Super impressive resume.
Now, is the Pac-10 any better? Absolutely NOT. They have had a POOR showing against non-BCS conference this year, mostly the MWC. However, this shows that the SEC, is not the monster the media makes them out to be.
The combined record, of SEC's(all) OOC opponents, MINUS FCS teams are:
40-59
The number of BCS school's faced in OOC:
9 (thats less than 1 per team)
Number of ranked school's faced in OOC (at time of game):
3
Here is an interesting stat: The amount of ranked school's played by the Washington Huskies equals the amount of the ENTIRE SEC!!!!
Number of FCS teams faced in OOC:
7
Take these numbers for what they are worth.
