And the irony of a white-owned "hip hop" magazine trying to lambast a whiteboy as all that is wrong with rap is fuckin incredible. How about the fact that the source doesn't do shit but promote gross materialism, drugs, and big titty bitches as "hip hop" strictly for *their* profit. The shit is sad, but it wasn't always like that. I remember the first issue of the source my homeboy brought to junior high school in like 88-89. The shit was just a 2 page newsletter but because it wasn't about nothing but that hip hop shit, we bought that shit every time it came out. Then it got color covers and got fatter and then it got glossy and started morphing into a bitch ass fashion mag with a little bit of rap shit sprinkled in. Nowadays it aint nothin but a runaway pile of dog shit trying to portray itself as some sort of politically conscious "savior" of hip hop.
I don't give a fuck about eminem either way, but for them whiteys to act like they need to "save" hip hop from another whitey is the epitome of the pot callin the kettle black. I can't believe they used that wack ass benzino verse as a hip hop quotable. I've heard lil romeo come with more intricate and deeper rhymes than that bullshit. Benzino trying to act like his beef is with the "machine" of the music industry is hilarious.
Somebody tell that non rappin muthafucka to go cop Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album to hear some real music aimed at the "machine". Benzino is just a victim of jealousy and envy. (shit, i havent bought an eminem album since 1999), he proves that he can still spit. just listen to that single he got for his movie...... that's the eminem i'm talkin about, not that dumb shit like the first single he dropped this year.
Em did not bring shit to HIP-HOP sorry. Rap will still be crackin without him. He's gettin' paid major ca$h thanks to Dr. Dre. With that said, he's still a good artist, better than alot that's out there. Ja is garbage. He's a Pac wannabe. No matter what we thinks of the that cat he's doing something right. He's fo' sho' 3 platinum everytime. Females love that cat music. Benzino can't fuck with Em. Murdog and XXL are the best magz right now. The Sauce needs more flava. Like more interviews with cats like Yukmouth, C-Bo, Lynch, Mob Figaz, Bosko, A-WAX (#3 in the Bay I think) and JT.
Just curious.... Why do you think The Source needs to interview these people? What appeal do you think those interviews would have to national readers?

You can get anything in it from clothing to jewelry to instructional video tapes on how to become the next Russel Simmons. I'm pretty sure if you look through all the pages, you'll even see an ad for Sea Monkeys in there somewhere.

Regardless of how bad The Source has gotten, I still get every issue and read it cover to cover. If you're gonna be in the music business, in any capacity, it does nothing but benefit you to read as many music magazines as possible. Even if you don't like them, you need to be able to see and understand what the consumers are looking at. If that means reading The Source even though you don't like it, that's what you need to do.

It's beneficial to understand what is happening in the industry you're tryin' to be in even if you don't think certain things apply or relate to you and hip hop.
