I used to do martial arts, but I regrettably quit when I was 16. I formally studied Tae Kwan Do and Kenpo Karate. TKD is basically just for show. It's based on kicks and because of that it is not a very practical martial art. However, when I started taking Kenpo, I was much better at kicking than my peers because I was able to take the mechanical aspects of TKD and the apply them to the practical aspects of Kenpo.

Informally, I have done Tai Chi, boxing, kickboxing, and probably some others. I've messed around with some weapons, my favorite of which were nunchaku. In fact they are the most savage weapon I have ever seen.

By the way, above anything, Martial Arts teaches you to avoid situations where you may have to get violent. Running away is always the first choice in a sticky situation.

And if you want to be properly trained with a sword, you'll have to put some time in first. Have fun, though.

Thanks for the info on Tae Kwan Do and Kenpo Karate. Yeah I have some nunChucks from the time my father used to practice martial arts. I have some ninja stars also.

Yeah I'm not trying to learn how to use a sword to fight with people I just want to learn to practice and get the excersise. Well I'm only 23.. So I have time to learn. :siccness:

Alright Kendo sounds good. Yeah all those TV and movie sword fights are way to long.. lol in real life one slice is all it would take to get killed easily. Wow you have a lot of traning in many styles.

what is aikido? I've heard of this style.. what is it about? Can you tell me a little about it.

aikido is sick, its main thing is using your opponents momentum agaisnt him, just think of the lil old martial arts guy making the huge bully flip onto his back with minimal effort. Its a really sick style, and when you spar with other aikido students its like dancing(no homo)its like a fluid collision course.lots of sick wrist techniques.
Tuite is some sick shit, its based on a shit load of locks with pressure points.so as i have your arm in a reverse wirst hand if you try to pull away or escape, youll jus spiral facture your entire arm, breaking your ulna and radius, snapping your elbow, and dislocating your shoulder.I dont have to do anything but hold firm and still and if he freaks he breaks his OWN arm,but if you stay still ill just lay you down on the ground with a thumb pressure to the back of the skull. Some real raw stuff
My next style is gona be Wing-Chun,its all about the fastest and shortest strikes in the best area, all the center of the body.so the time it takes you to clobber me in the face,i would have already striken you with a solar plex/chin/groin hit,and youd slowly crumble to the floor, and if not, then youd get about 6 other vital strikes that would put you down or faze you long enough to bring some other styles up in this bitch.
Martial Arts is some siiiiiiiiiiick shit.
