It really just depends on what you classify as "great results".

If you take some total lard who goes on brisk walks and eats low fat yogurt, then that same lard does the P90X of course he will have great results.

If you take the average gym head who lifts 4 or 5 times a week and already has their diet on point, P90X is pretty much a serious step back.

I think it can be a good starting point for someone who wants a solid do-it yourself boot camp, but don't expect to turn into Captain America. It just won't happen.
Agreed holmez. The problem is most of us aren't 4-5 day a week gym heads with dialed in diets. Tryn to get there tho!!

you never know how many calories some shit has until you read the nutritional facts lol

the lady and i went to the "organic" section at the store thinking it was better...and started reading that most of that stuff has way more calories than its non organic counterparts

just read this article:

Beer and Fitness? Can It Be?

I was once asked an interesting question concerning drinking beer and exercising. It seems that a former Navy Radioman had developed quite a gut since retiring, and was curious about whether he should give up his beer to lose weight? Not only did the gentleman enjoy drinking about 2-4 beers daily, he had also quit exercising. Moderate beer consumption is actually healthy, so I set out to define "moderate" as well as educate on the basics of caloric intake and caloric expenditure. The radioman was not suffering from a beer belly but an INACTIVITY BELLY! Yes, you can still drink beer and be very fit.

Over 90 million Americans enjoy drinking beer! Drinking moderately has been proven by many doctors, as well as the New England Journal of Medicine, to be a healthy component of longevity. In fact, moderate consumption of alcohol, including beer, has been proven to reduce the effects of high cholesterol, heart disease, some forms of cancer and even impotence.

Anything done in excess is naturally unhealthy. "Moderation" is defined by most doctors as 1-2 beers a day. And NO, you cannot save up through the week and catch up on the weekend drinking 10-12 beers in an evening. That is NOT moderation. There is even a US Beer Drinking Team that links beer enthusiasts and promotes moderation, responsibility, and healthy living.

The average can of beer has over 100 calories. Drinking one beer is equivalent to eating a chocolate chip cookie. Drinking four is equal to eating a Big Mac Hamburger. In order to lose weight, you have to burn off these extra calories as well as the other calories that you ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even the lightest of beers has the empty calories of alcohol, which is the cause of poor health if done in excess and without a regular exercise routine. Unfortunately, too many Americans live under one of the worst stereotypes placed on a human being - the BEER BELLY, or as I call it, the inactivity belly.

The "inactivity" belly is caused by excess calories in your diet AND lack of activity to burn the extra calories. The solution to lose your beer belly is as simple as calories in must be less than calories out (or expended through exercise).

Calories IN < Calories Out (burned) = Weight Loss

If you can add exercise into your schedule for 20-30 minutes a day, your daily consumption of alcohol (1-2 beers) will not have any additional impact on your gut. To lose your beer belly, you REALLY have to watch your food and beverage intake, drink 2-4 quarts of water a day, AND fit fitness into your world. THERE IS NO OTHER HEALTHY ANSWER!

Beers, and any other type of alcohol, are empty calories. Meaning, they are detremental to your results. Period.

With that being said, I don't give a fuck. I need my alky. The results can suffer a little.

I did the first workout today, chest and back plus ab ripper x. The back and the abs part I felt was very intense... The chest, not so much. I'm either gonna go bust a few chest sets at the gym or do a shit load more pushups here in a second. Also the diet plan put me on teir 3 but I think that's too much so I'm following teir 2

Right on bro. Were on the same schedule.
Nice, we got pretty similar stories. I'm 25 started smoking at 14 (Newports at 16). Pretty much been drinking like a fish since I was 16. Quit drinking 7/7/10, quit smoking 8/8/10. Haven't had a drop or puff since those dates. The heaviest I got up to was 249 (this passed June), started doing the Abs Diet (half ass) now I'm down to 233. My goal is to get down to 200 by the time I get done with p90x.

We should check in here daily to make sure we're staying on point, and use this as journal so anybody that's contemplating p90x can kind of see what we're going through.

I got great results by doing the p90x, but like I said...you are working out at home 6 days a week, and to me that got boring after 3 months. I need to see tiddies bouncing on eliptical machines.
same here. i always thought that a home gym would be tighter than a gym, but nothing beats hot chicks working out.

Alright....
Just did the day two plyometrics workout. That one is no ho. Felt like my fuckn lungs were bleeding at about the 20 minute mark. I was regreting the 2 sour diesel bong hits I took before bed last night. As far as the diet goes I'm eating less than it reccomends. It's sayn I should be at 3000 calories a day. Yesterday I clocked in around 2200. Today is my bzs bday and she wants to go get pizza tonight. I am going to eat a max of two pieces and that will still be within the low carb phase one parameters.

By the way Palmer, are you taking any kind of supplements?

Here's what I'm taking: GNC brand multi vitamin energy and metabolism formula
900mg fish oil
5g creatine monohydrate
glucosimine/chondron
and Noexplode preworkout

I have three different proteins:
optimum nutrition hydrolyzed whey for recovery(I also mix a teaspoon of glutamine in recovery drink) and I drink 8oz grape juice for an insulin spike post workout.
optimum nutrition pro blend for normal supplementation
and bsn syntha-6 for meal replacement.

I get all my shit from gnc for free....

Just try to keep the carbs as low as possible. People who eat a lot of carbs tend to underestimate their calories per day, and people who don't eat many carbs tend to overestimate.

I'd take the latter for fat loss.

Good luck everyone. I personally skipped the Yoga and replaced that with a cardio session. That's just me though.
