Do you know how to work on cars? If you do, hit the junk yard or call some shops that carry transmissions and look for one with low miles.. I replaced the transmission on my hoopty myself and it cost $140 for a tranny w/ 80k miles.. already off of the original car. IMO, it's as simple as changing an alternator.. you just have to remove more shit to get to the transmission since you're working with a FWD vehicle. Shouldn't take no more than 10 hours to finish.. removing the old and installing the new.

For your WS6.. check www.norcal-ls1.com. They might have what you're lookin for and if you have questions, I'm sure they'll help you.

Now I'm not sure if you know cars, but if you don't, try not sounding like a "noob" when you talk to the shops (or take it there) about doing work on your car... they'll jack up prices higher than it originally costs, some are crooked like that.
