Yeah I believe it's better to have a family and not have them in prison or dead, since survival is basic, but to just be part of some fucked up system under stress and other bullshit -but your getting by, that's not an achievement that's mediocrity.

The system might change but you don't think it adjusts to counter any change? Example, Jim crow era is over but the prison industrial system is alive and kicking so what's the difference? No difference, a good portion of black and minorities still can't vote and are disenfranchised just like the overtly racist Jim Crow laws disenfranchised peeps 40-50 yrs ago. That's why some people say fuck it.

The big picture is overwhelming and I agree that it is settling for mediocrity but IMO taking care of your family and yourself and living the best way you can is better then just going all kamakazi on the world.

I guess I just like to see people try to help with the kids and show them that there is better things out there then just what they see on the block on a day to day basis.

Okay now this is starting to trun into a whole other subject lol.

if people wanna make an impact if the verdict is not to their liking the should: DO the oppisite and have a peaceful march and demand reform on the way the police in oakland handle their shit.

like all the people that would have rioted got together and said enuff is enuff we demand change now! and camp out in front of the police staion/bart stations get your #'s up in those locations and demand to speak to the higher ups and wont leave until something is done for the community.

shit throw a bbq play sum 2pac at loud volumes. turn these spots in mini communities until something is done that will be benificial to the people.

just my 2 cents..

i agree there, should have a march instead of a riot
I talking lets get peoplel from san francisco, richmond, san jose, vallejo, all around the bay . get rappers/singers/poets to do free shows at these places talking peace and community. Show these govement officials what we as a people WANT and DESERVE! But we have to show them that IT IS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT BY ACTING ACCORDINGLY.

"Its time for us as a people to start making some changes, lets change the way we eat, lets change the way we live, and lets change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn't working so its on US, to do what we gotta do to survive."

i know i crack jokes on here like everyone but i would view these coming times as an oppurtunity to show the world that things can be changed in a peaceful manner and that minorities dont know just violence as a way of getting justice. we proved taht we can get violent. but these are not the times to do so. if we use our minds and hearts in to doing what we know is right. it will show others that they too need to fight for what is right even if Oscar's Death doesnt affect them directly like it did the people of Oakland we need to turn this horrible negative thing in to something truly positive and benificial to the people. Lets not Let Oscar die in VAIN because Lets seize the day and make this world better in his memory and everyone else who died under the oppresion of the police.

there should be a MASS, PEACEFUL candlelight Vigil all over Cali for Oscar Grant this weekend. the news would be all over it and more people would support a cause like that.

@ DFRESH very true.. but if i would hope that people will come with the right mindset where the would say "not here not now" and let the knuckle heads see the bigger picture. we dont need police to keep us in check with guns, batons, hoses and dogs. I have faith that when the time is right we can do it right.. i hope taht time is coming soon.
