Beating Mark Mulder (worst starting pitcher on the A's right now) and a triple A callup scrub isn't much to be bragging about, especially seeing as how the Angels payroll is about double what the A's is. Anaheim should be embarassed that they didn't run away the division and clinch already.

We would have smashed the entire dividion if we didn't have so many injuries throughout the entire season. I finally got a good amount of out players back but are still missing Salmon, Kennedy, and Guillen.

What about Oakland having cheap players? That aint nothin to be proud of. Im glad Anaheim has more money to spend on their team. It's callled Capitol Investment.

"If"

An Angel fan's favorite word.

The A's had their share of injuries... Jermaine Dye, Tim Hudson, Eric Chavez, Mark Ellis, Damian Miller, Erubiel Durazo, Chad Bradford, Kirk Saarloos, Chris Hammond, Billy McMillon, etc. etc.... Injuries are no excuse. The team is what matters. If someone goes down, someone should be able to pick up the slack.

The A's hardly have "cheap" players, i.e. Eric Chavez- 6 years, $66 million, I think Dye is getting like $10 million... They just know how to develop talent. They have the best GM in the business (Billy Beane,) someone even wrote a book about it (Moneyball) which was picked up by Sony earlier this year for a movie. I'd rather watch a player come up through the organization, from the draft to the majors and become contenders than have the team hire "superstar" players that still can't get the job done right.

I agree. The way Anaheim was playing mid season made me feel that we weren't going to be a playoff contender. September stretch came and we started heatin up again.

What do u call Anaheim taking the world series in 2002?
That was as from the gutter and up it could have ever been.

And yes, IF we didnt have so many injuries we would have smashed through the AL West. We had to bring 9 or 10 players up from the minors, and RELY on them. Them most important player Oakland lost was their catcher.

And almost all of your players are back now.

Where is Tim Salmon, Adam Kennedy, Jose Guillen? Gone, Gone, and Gone.

Regardless, good game so far. Tied at 4.
Oakland is lucky that Erstad's hit didn't exit the park.
Taking out Zito wasn't a bad move because he surpassed the 100 mark, but to replace Zito with Mecir was a terrible call.

One word: Injuries

You should be embarassed for making a dumb comment like this. By the way...5-4 bottom of the eighth, with K-Rod pitching. Bring on Boston!

Well actually, our reserves DID pick up the slack. Figgins, Quinlan, DaVanon, etc. However, you can't possibly expect backups to pick up the slack of injured STARTERS can you? There's a reason they're backups ya know.
