"If"

An Angel fan's favorite word.

The A's had their share of injuries... Jermaine Dye, Tim Hudson, Eric Chavez, Mark Ellis, Damian Miller, Erubiel Durazo, Chad Bradford, Kirk Saarloos, Chris Hammond, Billy McMillon, etc. etc.... Injuries are no excuse. The team is what matters. If someone goes down, someone should be able to pick up the slack.

The A's hardly have "cheap" players, i.e. Eric Chavez- 6 years, $66 million, I think Dye is getting like $10 million... They just know how to develop talent. They have the best GM in the business (Billy Beane,) someone even wrote a book about it (Moneyball) which was picked up by Sony earlier this year for a movie. I'd rather watch a player come up through the organization, from the draft to the majors and become contenders than have the team hire "superstar" players that still can't get the job done right.

Well said...I agree 100%

On another note, I unfortunately witnessed the A's defeat first hand yesterday. I had some pretty good seats right next to the Angels bullpen where the infamous chair throwing incident took place. The A's definintely need to get some bullpen help next year because that is what they've lacked the whole season...

Oakland will be back next year in full force. Can't wait to see what rooke will shine for 'em next season.

PS - Fuck the Angels, they gonna get their asses handed to 'em the first round!

Just like Oakland did last year?
Exactly like it, in one way or another. Shit, it's like someone else already stated...at least they ended their run earlier than havin' them set myself up for dissapointment later.

Macha gave that game away, he knew Mecir and Rincon couldn't be trusted with a big game... Harden was available from the bullpen, he could have brought him in to set up Dotel!! Macha's misuse of the bullpen has caused a lot of those blown games (27 blown games total!) Rincon is a left handed specialist, Macha has constantly gotten Rincon into trouble by leaving him in against righties... Lefties hit like .120 against Rincon, righties hit like .330... Macha fucked up a lot this year. He didn't have much to work with, but he could have won the West with what he had.

They need a REAL closer (Dotel would be a good setup guy,) a 40+ HR hitter, and a couple good pitchers for the pen. They need to get rid of Arthur Rhodes who has been a worthless piece of shit all season, Houston wanted him before the trade deadline (who knows why,) but the A's should take whoever they can get for him, he has a huge salary and isn't worth shit. They also need to get rid of Chad Bradford and Jim Mecir (he's probably gonna retire anyway.)

Hammond is ok, Rincon is ok, Duchscherer was a big part of the A's success this season, Saarloos is decent too (he picked up the slack when Hudson was hurt.) They also have Joe Blanton, Huston Street, Jairo Garcia and Kirk Saarloos who should be up in the majors in the next year or two... Actually I wouldn't be suprised if they traded Mark Redman to a place where he would be able to succeed (i.e. Seattle) and make Blanton the 5th starter next year.

Were you in those box seats right on the field? How much do those run? Are they season ticket only? Just wondering. I was out there Friday and today.
