Mike Williams left the field content that he had given maximum effort for the entire practice — something he admitted to not doing with his previous teams, Detroit and Oakland.
“I felt like I’ve been a bare-minimum guy,” said Williams, the 10th overall pick in 2005. “I was kind of just doing enough to get by. And obviously, that hasn’t gotten me anywhere. So (I’m going to) try a different approach.”
Williams has only 44 catches in his three-year career. In his first training camp practice with the Titans, who signed him in November, the former USC star showed he had improved his stamina.
“I feel like I’m in good shape,” he said. “I don’t feel like I was huffing and puffing at all.”
Now he wants to prove he can give maximum effort at every practice. He’s competing for one of six, maybe seven, receiver spots on the roster.
