I been there quite a few times, go to the mercado during the day drink for like 6 hours with a few friends and spend like $10 ....shits cool but very crazy and poverty stricken...i've known of one guy from here in Alb who got arrested out there and dint have no way of paying to get out of there so he had to literally fight his way out through boxing matches in jail......2 more people I know had to bribe the cops for sum stupid little petty shit they did one like throwing gum on the floor or sumtn stupid...them cops will basically rob ure ass out there....
not all cops in tj are fucked up, once me and my brother got caught drinking and driving and my brother had some coke, so he tells the cop well i only have 20 dollars, and the cop to my surprise says thats ok, i got a ten for you right here.... now thats a nice corrupt cop for you right there, i was expecting him to take the 20 but that nigga only took ten
lol yea i remember the first time i went to tequila derby i went to the bathroom came out and a fuckin chair just flew by me and hit some guy coming out the bathroom everyone was goin krazy and the cops didnt even give a fuck. i had this puertorican homie who always wanted to go down there so we went with some other ppl and he took his white homie with him and foo threw a cigarette out the window and we got pulled over. fuckin cop wanted me to give him my watch and earings. i refused to give it to him and he took my i.d and the car plates. he told me to get 500 bucks and go back and he would give me all my shit back. they took my homies cell phone his shoes and his jacket. they took all our i.ds and my dumbass friend had his paycheck with him they took that shit too and still wanted me to come up with 500 bucks. my aunts a judge down there so i had to call my dad so he could call her and have her meet us down at the station and when she got there fuckin dicks gave us back all our shit and apologized. cops are full of shit out there. after that time i stopped goin over there too much of a risk all the fuckin time. my lil puertorican homie went back tho and he told me 3 mexicans surrounded him and told him they didnt like black ppl down there threw a burlap sack over his head and jacked his ass. poverty is all u c out there. shits sad.
and if u get locked up down there and they know ur american theyll fuckin give u a different name so u wont seek help from the american consulate. itll take them weeks to sort ur paper work out and get ur info from immigration and prove ur american. that happened to my homie and he was there for 5weeks and only showered twice. ppl get treated like shit down there and u basically have no rights. ppl starve and die because they dont have money for medical care or food and the government keeps all the money in their pocket so they get no help. its really sad.

i just got back from mexico last week. uncle was tellin me how in culiacan sinaloa they had like 700 murders last year, and thats a city not much bigger than san francisco, oh and its all the capitol of sinaloa. we went to a club out in mazatlan and we got into a rumble with some dudes and then the pistols came out. crazy shit cuz thats like more tourist type city. but my brother and my friend got arrested, gave the cops 70 dollars and were released. but shit is crazy out there in sinaloa. u gotta be careful out there and all of mexico at that. but im still and always will be proud to say that im mexican.
Depends on where/what time you go. What you look like. What you're doing.
Seriously. There are places in Mexico (in Juarez, in fact) that make 'dangerous' places in the states seem like paradise. Not saying that these places in the states aren't hard or dangerous...but it's like...it's different there. There's no repurcussions most times, no worries about getting in trouble, no laws...
And ''horrific'' crimes, to Americans, are everyday, common occurences there.
