maybe a little long but please respond if you in the know

so heres the deal ppl...for the past few months ive been jogging pretty much everyday...twice on sat and sun...when i work graveyard and get out at 6am on sat and sun i jog approx 2.5 miles (not all the way but id say 3-4ths of the way) as you can imagine sometimes that early im not really into it so the jog is half assed soimetimes...so this AM i drank 8ozs of that sobe enrgy drink stuff called no fear...it has creatine and some other hard to prononce supplement...i noticed that when i jogged i had more bounce to my running, and i was able to run faster and for longer...i dont know if i had energy to begin with, i was somewhat alert right before drinking it, maybe more than usual...

but im checking online and doing searches on creatine and it all talks about building muscle for short burts workouts...so if im drinking 8oz of this no fear stuff twice a week, will i start getting bigger instead of loosing weight, i couldnt exactly figure out if it would help w me getting leaner or if it would just define my muscles and make me look bulky.

responses appreciated.

creatine is a waste , if you eat alot of red meat or fish you know like a peice of lean meat for dinner regularly you only need 3 or 4 grams of it not the serving of 12 grams , in a pound of steak theres 12g of creatine

if u are running to lose weight, u dont need creatine or sugar packed sobe drinks. (those drinks probably dont have an amount of creatine that will really affect you) if anything, have a powerade or gatorade after u run to replenish.

Well heres a lil insight on Creatine n how it works>(I do weight training and this is a major supplement to it)

Theres a "molecule" in your body called ATP(stands for Adenosine triphosphate) and it gives energy to your muscles, your workout depends on how much ATP is released, te more that's released, the more progress you'll have basically...but here is where creatine comes in place...when ATP releases energy it becomes ADP(Adenosine diphosphate). When you start puttin more creatine in your body with supplements and all this other stuff...what happens is creatine releases energy back to ADP and it becomes ATP again...which gives you more intensity and energy when you workout....so basically the extra creatine makes you "feel" stronger....which then leads to more muscle.....

but like smuggla said u dont need creatine if you are trying to lose weight, all it will do is basically make your legs stronger in a way since you are running...etc, its best for building mustle....

Hope that info helped, probably a lil confusin wit all the ATP n the ADP's...lol, but read it over couple times n it shouldn't be that confusing.

I used to take creatine in highschool when I was into lifting weights and doing shot put & discus. I don't think the amounts of creatine in the two 8 oz. drinks are not much to cause too big of an affect. I forgot how much I used to take but I think it was somewhat of 1 teaspoon in the morning and one again in the afternoon mixed in gatorade. Anyways, I did like the results. I was able to workout for longer periods of time and lift more. The only thing that I didn't like was sometimes my kidneys seemed to hurt. Once I stopped using it the pain went away. Just be careful with supplements and don't fuck with anything that doesn't make you feel right.

SiccmadeLoc know what hes talkin bout. Also I hear creatine only works as long as you continously take it, if you stop all the effects u gained go away.

Keep running but stay away from energy drinks, soda, and to some extent even gatorade b/c they are all high in sugar. There is not really enough Creatine in Sobe drinks to do much. Try keeping a diet high in fiber like raisan brand cereal, apples n fruits, vegtables and high in protein. try to keep a variety of protein too b/c i hear stackin up on the protein shakes loses its effectiveness as your body gets used to it. i just had surgury and couldnt do nothin for almost 2 months and so far sticking with this diet, doing light weights and running about 2 miles a day has helped me burn off about 7 pounds in 2 weeks.

I love Creatine and have experienced its effects multiple times (on and off) in my life.

When im on a good daily cycle taking the stuff, my lifting is improved a lot. I can get that "one extra" rep out of myself that I otherwise couldnt.. im more energized at the gym instead of moping around between sets... and i generally feel more active before and after my workout.

People claim the problem with it is that when you stop taking it, you lose that extra "power" you're used to. Well, they are right. But still - WHILE im on it, im getting more lifts up and basically becoming stronger than I would have otherwise, so either way its helping me out for the time being, even if I lose a bit of edge when I quit... but then again, ive been on it for months now, and dont plan to stop taking it any time soon.

thats my take anyway

1)The amount of creatine in any energy drinks is inconsequential. If you wanted to use creatine as work-out supplement you would need to ingest 10 grams a day minimium. The amount of creatine in an energy drink around 10 milligrams (There are 1000 miligrams in 1 gram). Your body produces way more creatine itself then what you would find in an energy drink.

2)The reason you felt better running was a result of the caffiene and other energy supplements in the drinnk, most likely ginseng and or green tea extract.

too bad for you that ephedra is banned. If you want to burn fat and have energy, this would have been the supplement for you. If I were you, I'd consider taking yohimbine and/or caffeine. Like anything else, I'd guess that too much of either of these would be bad, but maybe you can take them on the days you feel especially shitty.

And about the creatine, I think you got the point from everyone else. It is for short burst activites like weight lifting and sprinting, and besides, there isn't much in those drinks to do anything. Also, after being dissolved in water for so long, I think it loses its potency.

Creatine is fuckin BAD for you. My brother used to use that shit all the time, and he fucked his kidneys up somethin' fierce. Luckily, they caught it before he did permanent damage to them. If you take creatine, you have to just about DOUBLE your water intake to make sure the shit doesn't fuck with your kidneys, it's ALL BAD and I wouldn't point anybody in that direction if they wanna lose weight.

You wanna lose weight? Drink more water, and do swift walks. I just lost 7 lbs in a week doing that, and I haven't changed my diet. If you want muscle, try eating shit like fish, steak, pasta, rice, TUNA...etc. Make sure you work out on a regular basis, but FUCK creatine.

if your worried about sugar then drink lo-carb monster, it's actually healthy for you and only holds 3 grams of sugar compared to the 28-33 found in most other energy drinks.
Read up on somthing called "maltodexrin" the carbs in low carb monster, are the same as like 50 grams of natural oats, if you wanna be strong, drink nothing but water, but i dont think there is many people with enough disapline on this site to do that.

Actually you can still buy it, but its not called ephedra anymore its now sold as ephedrine hcl and claims to help you with tightness of the chest, which is an obvious way of them getting around the legal issues associated with it. I found mine at a gas station and it was only $12.99 for 100 25mg pills, which would be more than enough for a cycle. All you have to do is get some caffeine pills (200mg) and take them with ephedrine and you got yourself an EC stack which will give you energy and help you lose weight. Here's a warning though, if you have any heart issues then stay away or you could be in some serious trouble.
