I disagree with everyone saying Duran doesn't deserve to be that high on the list, most people know of him from later on in his career when he was fighting guys like Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, etc. which was out of his natural weight class and wasn't really his prime. Before all that he dominated the lightweight division and is widely considered the greatest lightweight of all time. He's a top 10 IMO.
Good point.

Man forget Duran. He got beat by the great three of the 80's (Leonard, Hearns, Hagler) so he should be lower. And he also quit during a fight because he was getting outboxed so bad. He quit against Leonard and Hearns knocked him cold out. He should be lower...

He also beat Sugar Ray Leonard in a UD over 15 rounds which some people tend to overlook and that was arguably past his prime. His prime years were in the 70's during his dominant campaign at lightweight and those are the years he's getting credit for.

I hear you... he beat Sugar Ray because Sugar Ray chose to fight him toe to toe... when Sugar Ray boxed (like Mayweather did De La Hoya) Duran quit.

I was watchin this documentary on him the other day. It was showin all his early fights.. like before he turned pro and his first few pro fights. lemme tell you, NO ONE is fuckin with 20 year old Mike. I dont give a fuck what anyone says.. Young Mike will beat the SHIT outta any of those fools listed above him. He knocked some dude out in 8 seconds in one of the fights. 8 seconds!!

I agree 100%! I was watching him in those days way before he had a name and his opponents would take one real shot from him and be scarred as fuck!

but definitly not james toney haha,
Why not? James Toney was one of the most skilled boxers of all time and he has one of the best records of our era - 70 Wins, 6 Losses, 3 Draws. He's never been knocked out, has great defense, and was 44 - 0 before he lost his first pro fight (to Roy Jones Jr by points). He's held belts at Middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, Cruiserweight, and heavyweight divisions. Not too many people can say that.

If you judge him purely by his last four or five fights when he's been fat and out of shape, then you don't know james toney in his prime. He was one of the baddest. Shit, even when he's insanely fat and out of shape he still has enough skill to go the distance with Samuel Peter.

Check it:

^^^
Only bad thing about this video is it doesn't show any of his defense.

Well the argument against Tyson is that if you look at his list of opponents - who did he beat that was any good? Larry Holmes? (who was 40 at the time) Razor Ruddock? (who never beat anyone good). Spinks was probably the best fighter. And the next name is Frank Bruno, if you want to call him good fighter.

Don't get me wrong though, I love Tyson and don't have an argument against him fucking anyone up in his early days (I think he would), but the argument against Tyson that many people have is true.

Personally I think he could have been in the top ten if a few things in his life turned out differently (Robin Givens aka cunt-whore, rape, jail, don king, trainers, etc.).
