From what I heard Spartan ladiez was no joke like the men and to be barried an have your name on the tomb you had to be a soldier or a lady, because in sparta only two things were important the soldiers who fought the wars an the ladiez who gave birth to them.

i'm guessing if leonidas missed xerxes on purpose...it would be to make him realize that he can bleed just like a human. because the persians saw him as a god, i believe.

naw, i think Xeres just got lucky and moved right on time. Why the fuck would Leonidas just want to wound him. Not even for the sake of honor, glory or proving a point would that have been logical.

I just got the graphic novel today. Maybe it will shed some insight into his thoughts.

not sure where that one came from^^^ hope thats not whats in the comic...

and i talked about it with a few co workers and we all had the same idea that wounding him would make him seem mortal , leave a scar on his face forever and show everyone else he can be touched

We can never really know what was in their minds or thoughts, but to think what homie said that he did it to make him seem mortal kinda makes sense because a man like Leonidas would not miss you think an so maybe its letting dude know you may be killing me now but the true army of sparta is coming for you.

Remember when they met up for the first time and Xerxes made all those offers and Leonidas refused...then Xerxes gets all heated and says how he'll erase Sparta and all it's history to the point it will look like they never existed at all...then Leonidas says a few things back but ends it with something like.."And after this battle is over everyone will see that even a God king can bleed."

I actually found myself thinking during the movie . . . "I wish they would show more of the fighting" . . . and for a movie like this I think that's a serious flaw.
Gt.Th.Fuk.Ou.He. ,...all that damn fighthing....but hey, THERE IS ALWAYS ONE LIKE YOU. DAMN!

GREAT MOVIE, IT IS WHAT IT IS....
will definitely C it again!

actually there really wasnt as much fightin as i expected either.....and the way the movie critics had described it i thought it would be a lot more bloody and morbid but that shit wasnt as bad as they said it was.....and most of the good scenes was already on the website trailors and clips so i felt a lil cheated but it was still a great movie.....i jus gotta learn to be patient and not watch any more trailors or previews before a good flicc.....

I'm a little late on watching this, but finally got around to catching this over the weekend.

I'm gonna have to give this movie a big thumbs down. This is like Braveheart...with the same amount of fighting and EVEN MORE cheese. The dialogue is so cheesy that it was almost embarassing to watch. I had to start laughing at about the 15th time of hearing something along the lines of:

"IT IS SPARTAN LAW!"

"NO MERCY, NO RETREAT...FOR A SPARTAN WARRIOR!!"

Of course, if it were a little more entertaining and a lot less cheesy I could have put up with (read: ignored) the latent homosexuality of the movie.

Question: how is it NOT gay to have leather underoos and boots, and a cape as your soldier uniform?

And if you don't think that Xerxes looked like a tranny and anything other than tuff, then your opinion is appreciated, but not valid.

Now, I did bother to stop and consider that this movie is an adaptation of a graphic novel, and that the dialogue may have been keeping in line with the original work. OK, fine...however, that still may not make a very good movie.

The one thing I did like. The way the movie looked itself. The colors, the grain. This movie looked great. It just wasn't a great movie.

And, I don't think that Leonidas threw off just to cut him and make him look mortal. What would "look" more mortal, being cut or being killed?
