2 interesting facts i learned the other day in political science class

city college of san francisco. sadly it is true and not exadurated. the number of tax percentage going to the military varies from year to year, but is never more than 2 or 3 points off of 50%. This is a country with a very small government at home but the biggest government in terms of military power. It's sad, if we diverted just 25% of those funds to public schools, medicare, and social security, our country would be so far ahead and many less would be living in poverty. however there's still assholes out there like george w. bush pushing hundred year old adgendas that, no matter how far back you go, favor the few and the rich.... by keeping people down, the rich people (the ones who fund political candidates and own corporations which contribute to a large part of america's economic prosperity) have a lower class of citizens living a constant struggle, who in turn end up NEEDING to work for these people in factories and such type jobs for shit pay. This gets the rich richer, and the poor just as poor. And now, thanks to outsourcing, the quality of life for lower class laborers is going even farther down.
moral of the story: george bush is a fucking taint. (and when i say taint i don't just mean a stain on the office.. but also the anatomical area between the testicles and the anus.)
and yes this has all been said before, but i hadn't realized HOW deep it goes until i learned how much money we give to the military. plus i found it interesting that the most prestigious universities in europe (oxford and the like) often times cost under the equivalent of one thousand american dollars per semester... where as the average university in america , for example, San Francisco State University, costs about 1500-2 g's from what i hear for a full time schedule per semester.
I just think it's time for the government to step up to the people and not the few rich fat cats telling them otherwise. fucking pussy ass politicians.

but thats what it takes to be a superpower. people are always gunning for the those who are on top, so you need an army to keep them from attacking. I mean what would you rather have? what we got now or nonstop war against us.

Uhhhhh not exactly. The only fights we've been in since we've been a major super power were all fights we picked. Korean war, viet nam, Iraq....
Oh, and by the way, sacrificing money from the military to other shit would actually have an advantage. The CIA and such organizations (FBI, ATF, DEA) are all government run operations... so that other 50ish% of taxes that doesn't go to the military is split between those organizations and your welfare, social security, public education. What if only 30% of tax money went to the military. They'd have to downsize, but we would be a lot safer because the people who know when we're going to be attacked (CIA) would now be much more well funded, thereby decreasing the likelyhood of a war for being the big dog, or whatever your unreasonable fear of this would be.
read what I wrote again, I said that if we didnt have a large army, theoretically other countries would attack us. since we've had a VERY large military as long as we've existed, no one has really attacked us (in fact there have only been 2 attacks on US soil, EVER). so you basically made my argument for me, while trying to rebut against it.
