I suppose so, but shred is a more concise term. For example, you can be thrash metal and still incorporate shredding. But yeah, more often than not they end up in the neo-classical category.

It's a nice surprise. I think it's actually a decent song, but the transitions seem a little forced at times and the solo (unfortunately) is kind of odd. I'm definitely excited to hear the rest of the album.
