Seahawks just traded Jeremy Lane and a pick to the Texans for Duane Brown:

About fucking time they've done something another line! What's great is Brown was a big critic of the Texans owner Bob McNair and his recent comments referring to players as prison inmates ("we can't have the inmates running the prison.") so this was a fantastic way of Brown giving Bob McNair the middle finger! I love it!
And I think Brown is going to love the city of Seattle and the Seahawks organization who are about encouraging players to be active and outspoken on social issues and being part of the community (this is part of the foundation to Pete Carroll’s program in Seatfle). Night and day with Bob McNairs Texans!!
Lane has been garbage so no loss there, couple draft picks I think its a solid deal. I don't know how many years Brown has left in him at age 32, but I'm fine with it even its only a couple years.

Yeah they have been putting up some points. Looking more at the box score now, maybe the most surprising thing is us giving up 224 yards to Hopkins. I mean he is a top tier receiver for sure, but his previous high going into the game was 107 and that was his only other 3 digit game of the year. Very surprising he had such a huge game against the Hawks.
Say what you want about the LOB getting old, but they are still a top secondary.

I think a lot of that had more to do with game planning & execution than Hopkins' single player performance. They ran some plays that straight up fooled the Seahawks secondary, two of which at least was on Sherman where he's reading/seeing something that he thought was there but wasn't, basically using Sherman's IQ against him. That is doing their homework and finding out things that specific players do, certain tendencies they have, etc.
A couple plays were straight up effective trickery (QB fakes a toss to the RB, QB fakes a sideways screenpass, then throws to the opposite side of the field (never once looking to that side of the field until the very last moment). That kind of shit was dope to see as a fan of football...the creativity yet simplicity was a thing of beauty and something we Seahawks fans can only fucking dream of with Bevell!

I wonder if the Texans failed him on purpose so they get higher draft picks. Same thing happened some years back with the Browns and John Moffit. Actually I just googled it:

That would make a lot of sense especially considering my understanding of Lane's injuries were that they are pretty minor.
Failed physical because of a bruised thigh? hmmmmmm.
And personally if I am the Texans I would rather have a 3rd rounder than Lane and a 5th so the motivation is certainly there to kill the Lane part of the deal.
Also I am still waiting to hear how the Hawks are going to make Lane coming back work within the cap as RW's salary to bonus conversion isn't going to be enough.
Lane's contract is fully guaranteed so cutting him provides no cap help this year, and we were over the cap as soon as he came back. Being stuck with him might be the catalyst for getting a deal done with Graham, or Richardson, or someone else now instead of the offseason.

This drive is amazing. AZ has 6 first downs, 4 off Seahawks penalties. A couple at least have been weak ass calls though. They are getting calls against them now just based off reputation. Part of the problem with leading thr league on penalties, refs love that shit.
