1. Nobody buys music these days and even 20 years ago, no local rapper was selling the kind of units that would allow the lifestyle that's being bragged about in tracks. And nobody is getting in the neighborhood of 100k for a live appearance either except for select few but it's not those artists that we're talking about
2. If you were making that kind of money through other means, legally or illegally, you most likely would not have much time to make music, because unless you're a billionaire with hundreds of people working for you and a lot of spare time (and you're not), you would have to spend a lot of your time doing what is making you money and would have little incentive to waste time on making rap records.
3. Artists these days put out dozens of albums and mixtapes a year. This can only be achieved by spending long ours in the studio making tracks, and in addition to that, the number of videos being made has increased significantly and it takes time to shoot those, they do shows, etc., etc., all time-consuming activities. They ain't getting rich off of music, so if they do have a lot of money it must be coming from somethings else they do (again, legal or illegal, it does not really matter that much, it's still work). But how is it possible that they have the time to get involved in such activity if they spend so much time making tracks? Add to that the additional constraint on their time imposed by the amount of drugs they brag about doing, which is the one truly believable thing they brag about - you're unlikely to be out there doing serious business when you're completely wasted - and it becomes really impossible to see where the money is coming from.
The only logical conclusions is that the money simply does not exist.

You think listening to someone brag about how much money he has for 15 tracks is entertainment? It stopped being entertaining a very long time ago. It was cool when Cash Money took you to the fantasy bling world. Now it's just boring, or even worse - a lot of rappers have taken the Cash Money way of fantasizing about unreal wealth and have taken the obnoxiousness one level up by not only bragging about the money they supposedly have but also talking in second person and ridiculing the listener about how poor he is. That's most definitely not very entertaining, especially when you know the truth.
Also, storytelling and talking about real life, which are things that people could relate to and had a prominent place in lyrics years ago have almost completely disappeared and all we get now is trash-talk.
Nobody would be complaining if the problem was restricted to the mismatch between fiction and reality, but it's not restricted to that and it does have a negative effect on the quality of the music. And that's a legitimate reason to complain

what type of lifestyles are dudes bragging about? i hear people saying they got a big house and maserati or a lambo or something like that. none of that requires being a millionaire.
how much time do ou really think it takes a guy who has been rapping for 20+ years to craft a song?
and how much ime do it take to drop off weed or a bitch on a track? especially if you got years of seasoning on how to do this?
i dont hear nobody claiming mayweather money, i just see dudes saying they got a couple of nice things none of which are unobtainable. anything that ap-9 talks about in his music anyone with some hustle and focus can have too. he aint said he got a space shuttle or an island.
