Canelo has proven a lot by not ducking motherfuckers and fighting the winners of his "opponents fights." I can't recall the last time Floyd did that. So that's one reason.
Many of the guys Floyd fights are comign off wins. Was Ortiz coming off a win? Yes. Then you'll say, "but Cotto wasn't" but he explained why he fought Cotto. In his eyes, Cotto was undefeated because he lost to a cheater in Margarito and had ot fight Manny at a catchweight. IMHO, if anything, Floyd should be dinged for not fighting Martinez or Manny, but don't make it seem as if the guy is ducking and not fighting. He's business first and he isn't the highest paid athelete because of cowardice.

2- He has not LOST a fight
And? Neither has Floyd. Neither has Mikael Zewski. What is your point? Who has he fought? How many ranked fighters has he fought?

3-He is currently a champ
And? What ranked fighters has he fought?

4-If Ortiz or Cotto won there fights than yes, it would have been a huge ppv fight
So he deserves a fight because these guys didn't win their fights? What are you saying, man?

5-He has defended his past titles at 147 and is willing to do so against mayweather
Why does that give him a guarantee fight with Floyd?

6- Mayweather had him as a undercard then, wanted him now cuz he does draw a lot of attention
And? Why does that give him a guarantee fight with Floyd?

What do you mean by he wants people to believe Mexicans are his number one fans? Have you heard him say anything like that? Does JMM have a fanbase as big as Floyd? No. Is anyone stopping JMM from having a fight on Mexican Independence day? No. So if they both fought on the same date who are fans more likely to watch? JMM or Floyd?

What do you mean by, "Floyd is running out of time with the attraction that he's getting and soon fighters will stop ignoring him just like what Canelo did"

See you and others have this all wrong. He is the man in boxing. So he doesn't have to chase ANYONE. He doesn't have to beg for a fight, he doesn't have to come up with guarantees if you beat this guy or that guy. He is the man to beat. He is the draw and PPV king and if someone wants to fill his shoes they need to earn it.

Now I'll ask you the same thing I asked Chriss, which Chriss avoided bte. List 5 things Canelo has done to EARN a guaranteed fight with Floyd.
if marquez fights pacquiao or even bam bam rios believe me more people would watch that fight over mayweather vs cotto, alexander or whatever other carefully picked opponent he would chose bet! mayweather always gives it up to mexicans all the time in his interviews saying how much he loves his mexicans fans and how mexicans are the best boxing fans he ain't dumb that's why he fights on mexican holidays $$$ like 2-0 said let him fight on MLK and see what numbers he pulls? lol it would be laughable.

People would watch Marquez because he just knocked Pac out. They would also watch because these two guys have fought 100 times already and, for some reason, people still wanna watch them fight. Can Marquez headline a PPV and pull in half the numbers Floyd does without the guys you mentioned? No. Can Floyd pull in good numbers without JMM, Pac, Canelo or whoever else you're thinking about? Yes. He isn't the highest paid athelete for being a dummy. Regardless of what you say people want to see him fight. For whatever reason they wanna see him fight and if it be on a mexican holiday, black history month, xmas, the 4th of july, halloween or his own bday, people are going to tune in and watch him fight.

Then you talk about whatever carefully picked opponent, but I'm pretty sure you weren't one of the guys bashing Floyd and saying he needed to fight Pac so why the change up now? Floyd was good for you one day and all of a sudden, because he doesn't fight your favorite mexican fighter, who hasn't done a goddamn thing to deserve the fight, he's ducking and now carefully picking guys?

mayweather always gives it up to mexicans all the time in his interviews saying how much he loves his mexicans fans and how mexicans are the best boxing fans he ain't dumb that's why he fights on mexican holidays $$$ like 2-0 said let him fight on MLK and see what numbers he pulls? lol it would be laughable.
So? Is anything wrong with that? What does that have to do with what I said? Let me put it to you plain and simple. He's made a ton of money by beating mexican fighters. Knocking them out, winning the fight on points, whatever. He makes money by beating mexicans. I'd say the same shit he does to if I were in a position to wash, rinse and repeat.

Actually was on a 3 fight win streak when he fought Floyd so he cant even use that. Got Em!!

Then why ask Canelo to be the undercard for the second time now? For the same situation? It's not about who he is fighting anymore, it's about his undercards and why he does it on mexican holidays. the reason people like watching jmm and pacman is because they really go at it! they don't try to go the distance, they really box for the fans and lay it all on the line for the sake of boxing. when Floyd retires he will never be known for having a great rivalry or truely challenging himself. He's just a very good boxer.

I think the only thing that Canelo has earned as far as being in talks for a mayweather fight is the money he generates (in Mexico). I honestly don't know how ready he is for a major ppv fight but I think everyone would agree that it's the biggest fight that can be made in boxing outside a Pac/Mayweather fight which would still do pretty big numbers I would think if Manny comes back and has a big win first. I don't think he deserves a guarantee to fight Mayweather but it does feel like the fight will never happen. One thing I've noticed, Floyd has been wanting to fight guys that don't bring a lot to the negotiating table for his fights and I think Canelo does bring that, especially if he beats Trout even though hardcore boxing fans are the only ones that care about him.

Golden Boy is the one that makes the undercards. Canelo is a Golden Boy fighter so naturally Golden Boy wanted to put him on the card especially if they may fight next.

The only guys Floyd asks to have on his cards are other fighters under his "money team" which are small time fighters at the moment like Love etc.

No, it's about who he is fighting. Make no mistake about it, people tune in to watch Floyd. They also tune in to watch the undercard and it's a plus if the undercard is good, but people tune in to watch Floyd. Remember, this is the highest paid athelete in the world so if this was about the people on the undercard, many more of them would be in the same situation as he is financially.

It's business and I put it to you as simply as I could but you still don't get it. Floyd has beat a ton of mexican fighters. He knows he can fight on mexican holidays and get paid. I'd do the exact same thing if I were in his shoes.

Then you say people watch JMM and Pac because they really go at it. No. People watch JMM and Pac fight each other for the 287th time because of all the controversy surrounding the previous fights and who did/didn't win. Then you say they don't try to go the distance? LOL. So you're saying Floyd tries to go the distance? What would be the purpose of that?

When Floyd retires people like you will wish he never left the sport. He doesn't need a great rivalry to cement his legacy as it's already there. Yes, people will always put an asterix by his name for not fighting Pac, but you have to look at what the man has done. If he were to retire today he'd be undefeated, he'd have multiple championships in multiple weight classes to his credit, he'd go down as one of the richest boxers ever, etc. If your boy Canelo were to retire today how many people would really give a shit?

So there were NO KO's on Pacman vs JMM previous fights? They were trying to destroy eachother. Secondly, even recently Floyd was still asked about fighting Pacman so that proves that he never fought the best at their primes and never challenged himself. I understand clearly what you mean as far as this being a business but seriously, will he be truely remembered for fighting the best when he should have? No. even you acknowledge that people will put an asterix on Floyd's name cuz that's what we all wanted to see. Even you.

The only KO that happened was in the last fight. You said, "they don't try to go the distance" but the FACT is, the three previous fights DID go the distance, so what exactly are you talking about?

They were trying to destroy eachother. Secondly, even recently Floyd was still asked about fighting Pacman so that proves that he never fought the best at their primes and never challenged himself.
Incredible. Of course Floyd is always going to be asked about Pac (unless they fought) and people are going to put an asterix by his name. I've said this many times on this board and probably mentioned it in this thread as well. The problem is, he didn't fight Pac because Pac was too much of a challenge. He didn't fight because of MONEY. He wanted things his way, Pac wanted things his way, negotiantions fell apart. End of discussion. Wait, no it isn't. How does not fighting Pac prove that he never fought the best at their prime? OK, so they never fought, so how do you compare the two fighters? Well, you look at what accolades they have, if they fought the same opponents and each others performance compared to one another. Who comes out on top? Floyd. But you know what? Forget Floyd, who has Canelo fought? How many top ten fighters has the man fought?

I understand clearly what you mean as far as this being a business but seriously, will he be truely remembered for fighting the best when he should have? No. even you acknowledge that people will put an asterix on Floyd's name cuz that's what we all wanted to see. Even you.
Like Floyd said (paraphrasing), his career isn't defined by one fight and if it was, he wasted his time with all those other fights and should have only had one pro fight.

P.S. Canelo is not my boy at all! But when you see a fighter like himself that is willing to fight the best of them and do the right thing, how could you knock that?
How many top ten fighters has Canelo fought? And you talk about Floyd not having a great rivalry but what rivalry has Canelo had?

HERESY @HERESY My bad, not KO's but i meant to say knockdowns. either way they put up hella good fights if not it wouldn't have generated lots of attention and money. Now I have a question, is floyd gonna be remembered as a p4p all-time great that took on all comers, like Canelo is willing to do, or a very good fighter with a great business mindset? These promoters don't put up millions of dollars for a fighter that isn't all that, while Floyd rants like a motherfucker tohype up a match? Even Ali took on all comers, took an L, came back and whooped on muthafuckers and is considered an all time great. What is Floyd so scared of? An L?

And Floyd generates MORE attention and money so why aren't you mentioning that?

Now I have a question, is floyd gonna be remembered as a p4p all-time great that took on all comers, like Canelo is willing to do, or a very good fighter with a great business mindset?
WTF? You keep coming with various questions but I keep asking you and others the same question and you guys avoid it.

How many top ten fighters has Canelo fought?

These promoters don't put up millions of dollars for a fighter that isn't all that, while Floyd rants like a motherfucker tohype up a match?
Huh? Floyd is the highest paid athelete. Forget Woods, forget LeBron, forget Serena, forget whoever. Do you think that much ranting would generate that much money? No. People watch the fights and people walk away knowing he's in a different league. They like the entertainment and they know he's going to give it 100%.

Even Ali took on all comers, took an L, came back and whooped on muthafuckers and is considered an all time great. What is Floyd so scared of? An L?
In most eyes Ali is the greatest. However, many question why there was no rematch with Foreman. Why do you say Floyd is scared? Look at the type of fighters he has fought and look at the type of fighters Canelo has fought. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly! I agree on Canelo not fighting top ten fighters n all that, that's why I say Canelo is not my boy. BUT, if this is a fight that people do want to see and would be a huge drawing, then why not take the fight and shut people like me up? The reality is that Floyd is scared of an L, so people like you can think he's on a different level. That's how fighters like Canelo and Broner are getting a shit load of attention, while someone like Bam Bam has to get a rematch, who is also undefeated is getting put to the side cuz he's not scared of taking a loss, and other fighters are scared.

Pacman more than anyone deserved his right to fight Floyd and Floyd said no way so end that there
Did he say no way? Or did he say "take the test" more than a million times? Pacquiao and Roach's responses were... "Who is he? He doesn't make the rules, we'll go by what the commisions says"... then when Floyd moves on and loses interest, Pacquiao says "I'll take the test, they can test me between rounds", then why did he ask for a 24 day cut off?

It's funny how Shane, Ortiz, Cotto, and now Guerrero doesn't or didn't have a problem with taking the test. Those fights were made without a problem. All Pacquiao had to do was say yes (Floyd even gave him a two week "no test" window) to the test and they would have fought back in 2010 before Floyd decided to fight Mosley.... let's not beat a dead horse.
