that was a joke, right? mos def is a decent rapper, but as far as eating anybody? I dunno about that one.....especially common....nothing mos def has done or will ever do can even come close to Resurrection. Ever. And eating? shit, The Bitch In Yoo is one of the tightest diss tracks ever. Imagine a part 2
They are both tight, but Mos Def is a much more versatile and universal artist. Common just raps, Mos Does all types of music, and he is good at all of them.

Resurrection, Like water for chocolate, and BE ...

Classic?
Yeah this thread is old as fuck but felt like uppin it.

If you don't know about him check out these three albums^^^. They are so dope. His voice, what he sayin, beats, hell everything is just on point. I've been bumpin the fuck out of these albums for the past week. Peem em, trust me.

"Can I borrow a dollar", and "electric circus" are pretty weak IMO. Don't know nothing about "One day it'll all make sense" if it's fire let me know please. Thanks in advance. Late

^^^ My favorite is Ressurection, then BE, then Like Water For Chocolate. Just download a couple tracks off each album, if you like them you'll like the whole album guaranteed.

How can an artist who went platinum and gold before be underrated?

I hear what you're saying. But...

I still don't understand what sales has to do with skill level...because we all know, or at least all should know, that skills don't neccesarily equate into sales.

I feel like Common is underrated in that, the general public is unaware of his skill level as an emcee.

im tryin to tell yall.

jayz said he wishes he could rhyme like common in a song. all over the internet, tens of millions of kids who believe jayz is the best rapper ever and king of NY have heard this.

you cannot be underrated when that happens.
his last album sold 800,000 copies.

he got nominated for like 4 grammys in 2006
let alone the grammy nomination for "the light", that was like 2 albums back

i dont see where underrated comes from

mutha fucka was on chappelle shows first seasons!
he performed in fucking cuba rocking next to assata shakur

i dunno man, i think more people know about common than you know, its just the people you know fronts on that type of rap or/and generally uncaring whether hes a good mc or not..

common sense was the only person in my life, ive seen stage dive and someone steal his shoes and run out of the venue. that really happened, too.

i'll agree with him being one of the illest. but with how much critical praise he has been recieving the past year, i wouldnt say he was underrated. maybe overlooked, though.

he's still my favorite rapper. his music speaks on way more levels than 90% of hip hop artists that are able to get radio play.

Underrated? he's more overrated if anything. People started listening and buying his new shit just cause Kanye Gay is all over it. He's alright if u like the good music that lifts your spirits and makes u wear sandals and eat fruits and vegetables all day. Its that healthy rap shit. Might as well be R&B.

EXACTLY, BECAUSE IF SALES WERE BASED ON LYRICAL CONTENT, ARTISTS LIKE COMM, & RASS KASS WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE HIGH SALES.
