Bay Area Rapper Andre Nickatina Returns To Bend, OR.

San Francisco gangsta rap standby Andre Nickatina returns to Bend after nearly three years away for a performance at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Friday. Launching his career in 1993 as Dre Dog, Nickatina changed his name with the release of the 1997 album “Cocaine Raps” and began developing his signature style — laid-back delivery, hard-edged beats and plenty of braggadocio to spare. Today he’s a legend on the Bay Area scene, and until recently he was an almost annual visitor to Central Oregon. His most recent, self-titled album dropped in 2013. Head to VTP to help welcome Nickatina back to town.

Andre Nickatina, with J Meast, Anthony Ray: 9 p.m. Friday, doors open at 8 p.m.; $26 plus fees in advance, $30 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatrepub.com or 541-323-1881.
