it seems like school could be the shit in the south or midwest, like your school may even stand for a specific neighborhood or area within the city and therefore people take pride in it..like oh shit so and so schools test scores are gettin on ours we gotta step it up...school rivalries etc etc...here it was like the only thing that made your school was the gangsters that barely came to school anyway, it was like well who goes to your school....i mean when i think of things like high school football or baseball even i bet thats taken way more serious outside of cali , and what i mean by that is it might be a bigger event, like people show up for games and it might be treated like something worth going to see...i agree with what you mean about you got time to think about your actions...things move alot slower..its quite possible youre right, education on a school system level is probably taken way serious as far as minorities go...i dunno about other places but in cali we were always kinda told our educational system was a joke..i cant tell you how many times we had teacher strikes and showed up to school with no teachers
so many distractions when i was in school ...i wasnt even banging and it was hard for me to concentrate..i went to UC because if i went to morse it woulda been all banging, fights, and me fucking around...i dont even know how bad education woulda got HAD I went to my neighborhood school..
there was like the rave scene blowing up, meth blew up, wars and shit, gangs were goin wild, shit was just a wild ass time to try and be good at school, you HAD to come from a good family with a good sense of education at the home to place value in school, and to make it worse back then we didnt have the whole issue with jobs and unemployment as bad as we do now, so alot of people due to the cost of living out here got a job at 16 and breezed through those last years
oh and another thing cali education system makes it so 11th and 12th grade is basically nothing...i didnt even do that great and i had 4 electives in 12th grade...like take a math class i dont need over wood shop? didnt make sense back then. were all kinda taught by that 2.0 rule, u get that 2.0 you straight...and when i learned i could make shit up at night school it was a wrap..i didnt do ANYTHING
