It's all good T.C.! Just to put you up on a lil somethin'.... there did used to be some bangin' out here in the bay back in the day. When all of the bay (except San Jose) used to be under the area code "415" there used to be funk with the crips from San Jose (The Family Crips and 7 Trees Crips from East San Jose) and the 415 Mob (Bloods). It used to be on at "Great America" and at the clubs. Now they (Great America) won't let you in if you have too much red on. One of my folks got jumped in the "Y" by some crips back in the day. There used to be major funk back in the 90's but I think it has pretty much died down now.
That's cool you don't trip when folks out here call you blood (they don't do it to set trip). I've run across a few crips and they were cool to me. One crip approached me in front of a 7/11 and he asked me could I buy him some swishers. I knew he was a crip because he had a perm and was wearing some blue dickies and he said to me "say cuzz".... I could have knocked him out but I wasn't trippin' though. I didn't say blood back to him or anything because I don't trip like that. I used to work with a crip at a warehouse and he was cool too... I could tell he was a crip because he was a Cowboys fan and he wore blue every day and even had all blue rubber bands in his hair and blue shoe strings in his shoes. We was cool, just used to chop it up about football. But my homies used to trip hard off of it though. One of my potnas threw a basketball at a crip for calling him cuzz on the basketball court. My OG pops has been in the pen and he doesn't trip. He said he can sit down and play chess with bloods or crips it didn't matter. So yeah I don't trip on the colors thing. My first Cutlass was sky blue with a bone white top and I used to buy a fresh pair of blue 501's everytime I went to buy some gear.
So there were (and still could be) some gang bangin' hoods out here. Just not that many like out there in L.A.

no that would be san jose which is actually bigger than sf.
no one mentioned Blues music in relation to fresno, but Blues definitely has a history there, especially on the west side of town.
