i hope your right, thats atleast manslaughter..........an accident is still manslaughter..........
on a side note, the cop is a bitch.he quit his job the day that internal affairs was gonna question him........

thats an ignorant excuse.they were out there tryna do something.....protest.
people need to quit justifying peoples negative actions and give responsibility where it should lye..........busting someones store that they put blood sweat and tears in shouldnt be justifyably fucked up cus some cat has no where to direct his anger.............

and your right, it wasnt just blacks.there was white anarchists there helping to incite.helping incite a riot on a community they dont even live in...........
No one is trying to excuse their conduct and i think you missed the point of what I was saying. Like it or not , these youth act out because there are not enough of us trying to help them. So like I asked before what are YOU doing?

Murder rates among young black men has damn near doubled across the nation since 2000, folks have no jobs, friends getting killed in the street by each other and by these crooked cops. We have to do something or things like this will continue to happen.

More than anything it is because there was a video and that gets to someones heart more. Seeing it.
I disagree with the riots.

If the mayor is treating this like a homicide, why hasnt this man been arrested?

here is something we can all do. NOW CALL INTERNAL AFFAIRS 510.464.7029 & CHIEF OF POLICE 510.464.7022 DEMAND JUSTICE 4 OSCAR GRANT!

that needs to be the argument. anybody else would have been charged.

What do you think they were doing? Everyone was not out there was rioting, it was a splinter group that started everything. community leaders right now are at the bart supervisors meeting demanding justice. The naacp and amnesty int'l are involved so do not make it seem like nothing but violence happend.
i just read that they were having a meeting with bart supervisors. Bart police are investigating their own ultimately and the police union is providing the attorney. its an injustice all the way around. It was a very small percentage of protesters creating the disturbance, but why didnt anybody try and stop those idiots? adults need to be responsible for society as a whole. this ignorance needs to stop. I'm a youth football and baseball coach and look out for the kids like they were my own as far as guidance. you cant teach an old dog new tricks, but the innocent children only do what they are taught. in the end its not their fault, its ours.

Well thank you for being involved . I work with outreach programs to help urban youth get into college , it is important we are all involved . Get out there and volunteer, donate, ect. Thats the only way things will change for our youth.

I think that with enough pressure it will get passed on to the state attorney. Internal investigations always end in cover up.

their is plenty of grant money(cal, fafsa, pell and plenty others i'm sure) to go around for the kids looking to attend college if they really take the right steps and have the guidance. the opportunity is their, we as the adult population need to lay out the yellow brick road so to speak and take back the communities. right on for the positive conversation and enlightenment.

it's only innocent until proven guilty for them. obviously oscar grant was guilty. why did bart only start to put pressure on him 6 days after it went down? before his lawyer got in his ear and laced him. if they would have did it the night of or day after threatening his job which they could have he might have cracked and been guilty on spot. now they extend the process and this is what goes down in the town. this shit suspect. now we gotta see what the state and fed investigations are but i seen 3-4 cameras with the same thing. a handcuffed man face down being executed . if this dood gets anything less than 2nd degree its a wrap.

For every action there's a re-action so what we are see'in with the roit'in is the re-action
of a crooket cop's doing, and it's not just the young black youth that's protesting.....
There's asian's,latin's,white's etc......I believe the roit's would not have kick'd off if he did'nt kill the kid,and 2nd if the officer had been in custody that same night he killed Oscar but no they wanna act in denial turn the table's around, and make it seem like the young black youth is wrong.
I don't cadome the car stomping but i don't knock it....

But im going to be the first to say that i bet that the devil cop get arrest'd,and charge for 2nd degree muder,or manslaughter by next week...
S, your my boy and I got stupid love for you but I have to disagree about the action & reaction thing and the "but I don't knock it" comment. You're right in saying that "For every action there's a reaction," but does the reaction have to be ignorant? Does have to be pointless? Does it have to undermine the whole purpose of a movement? What has rioting ever done to fix anything? What has destroying someone who's not even involved in the situation ever solved? It does nothing but defeat the purpose of educated peaceful protestors and more often than not the people rioting and looting and all'a that don't even give two shits or really know enough about the situation. It's an excuse to show their ass.

As for the cop, I'm on the fence only because in my lifetime I've witness some foul shit in regards to cops getting off scott free in these types of situations: AmadouDiallo, Sean Bell, Rodney King, the list goes on...I hope you are right! He deserves to be treated like a criminal and dealth with accordingly.

Again, you're by dude 100 and I respect your opinion, I just disagree...a little...Ha!

The thread starter makes a great point about our priorities and why we probably won't give the same effort of "protest" towards the other 125 murders that will happen in Oakland this year. The thing is, Oscar Grant is not just another statistic. He is not a victim of black on black crime. Black on black crime has basically become customary in Oakland, and cities alike. To the point where people don't deal with it with the urgency that they should. When a cop shoots an unarmed, restrained, and INNOCENT black man in the back.....That hits just as hard, if not harder than any other "murder" in Oakland.

I'm not trying to downplay any of the other killings in Oakland, but it's just a sad fact that people in Oakland have grown to expect 100 plus murders a year. NOBODY expects a young black man to be shot in the back while laying face down by a cop. NOBODY.

Anyone participating in that riot does not give a fuck about Oscar Grant. They are just ignorant morons looking to fuck shit up. This whole thing is embarrassing for the city of Oakland. "Lets go fuck up random peoples cars and property cause we have nothing else to do." Great idea idiots.

The riots are necessary.. Fuck the police in every way possible.. i think more than riots needs to happen.. but with that being said... you're statement is correct.. niggaz kill niggaz all day every day.. with no signs of "increasing the peace" ever! There needs to be rallies and action on that too.. but maybe we just need to start pointing our gunz the other way (i.e. at the police!).. fuck it.. sounds ignorant but that time is coming soon trust... Sean Bell, Rodney King, now Oscar Grant! ALL VICTIMS BY THE PEOPLE WHO ARE PAID TO PROTECT AND SERVE!!! and there's more that'll never make the news..

riots really dont solve much imo but whatever people want to do to get attention..and what i mean by attention i mean they want people to really notice the effect stuff like this has on the community..yes there is a more peaceful way of resolving stuff..the police need to get there shit straight its unfair that just cuz there government people doesnt mean they cant get the same treatment as regular folks..the law should be the same for everybody....

WHAT YALL THINK ABOUT THAT. THERES AN AVERAGE OF 100 MURDERS, ETC. IN OAKLAND A YEAR,AND THATS BLACKS KILLING BLACKS, BUT NO ONE RIOTS OR PROTESTS, I MEAN THEY DO, BUT NOT TO THIS EXTENT. BLACKS SHOOTING AT COPS, AND COPS SHOOTING AT BLACKS. THEN ONE BLACK MAN GETS SHOT BY A COP, AND OAKLAND GOES CRAZY. BLACKS QUICK TO TEAR UP THERE OWN NEIGHBORHOOD, WHETHER ITS BLACKS MURDERING EACH OTHER, DRUGS, ETC. OR NOT. O.J. ALL OVER AGAIN....STUPID. NOW THATS MY OPINION,WHATS YALLS OPINION. IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH MY OPINION, ITS COOL, IM NOT PERFECT AND I DONT KNOW EVERY THING BUT EVERYBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION. EITHER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT ITS WRONG FOR COPS TO KILL ANYONE, BUT WHEN ARE WE GONNASTART LOOKING AT US KILLINGEACH OTHER? YALL BE SAFE.

GRUFF
That's a obvious observation and you are correct but your opinion is sort of like a river that leads to an ocean. It's a lot more deeper then that. It's always good to do some research and try to get an understand of WHY (especially when its your own people), then ask WHY again and then maybe it'll lead you to the answer you really need.

Big bruh im not saying the reaction should be to act ignorant no no no by no means.Im saying for every action there's a reaction, and that's what we are seeing. From that crooket cop killing Oscar, and not getting arrested, and don't forget they have'nt gave us no information about shit.....We don't know where this devil cop at the d.a don't even know where this coward at,nor have they question the punk...He got lawyer'd up,and split, his lawyer not saying shit either....Once again i don't agree with there reactions but i don't disagree because i understand there PAIN & SORROW...This is what we deal with everyday in the streets across america what makes this different is we got it on video...I wanna thank GOD for them people with there camera phone's because if they acting like they acting with it on tape they really be clowing us if it was'nt....But i believe you can turn a negative into a positive
so that what's got to come out of this here......RIP OSCAR......
